FLSA STATUS: Exempt 

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role in Huntsville, AL is $118,000 to $152,100 and $128,900 - $166,100 for San Luis Obisp, CA annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.   

 

SUMMARY 

Redwire Defense Tech has a current opportunity for a Senior Lead Recruiter to lead and execute the company’s end-to-end recruiting strategy to attract, engage and hire top talent.  Experience in the aerospace, defense, or space industry is preferred. 

The role balances direct full-cycle recruiting responsibilities with team leadership, strategy execution, and operational oversight. The ideal candidate is a proven recruiter who can lead by example, coach others, and drive hiring outcomes in a fast-paced environment for our growing company nationwide.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties. 

 

  • Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies aligned with business objectives and workforce plans. 
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with hiring managers and other team members to understand their needs and create a partnership that yields success, predictable results, and credibility. 
  • Lead, coach and develop the recruiting team, including performance management and workload balancing.  
  • Use traditional and innovative methods to identify and attract high quality and diverse candidates. 
  • Represent the company at job fairs, networking events, and recruiting events as needed. 
  • Oversee recruiting programs such as employee referrals and community partnerships. 
  • Manage a high-volume recruiting process for positions ranging from internships, entry level positions, hourly and salaried highly technical and senior level management to executive level positions.  This will be a hands-on position where you will be managing reqs regularly. 
  • Oversee all stages of candidate experience including application, interviews and offers, background checks. 
  • Screen resumes, coordinate travel, interview candidates, administer appropriate pre-employment assessments as well as background/drug screenings. 
  • Regularly report on key recruitment metrics: source of hire, cost per hire and time-to-hire, etc. 
  • Oversee ATS usage, data accuracy, reporting, and recruiting documentation. 
  • Optimize recruiting processes, tools, and workflows to improve efficiency and outcomes. 
  • Build out and customize recruiting system and processes, policies to align with corporate. 
  • Create a top-notch candidate and hiring manager experience. 
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset utilizing data to inform areas for improvement. 
  • Ensure recruiting activities comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, mitigate risk in the process. 
  • Ensure all job requisitions and offers have proper approval. 
  • All other duties as assigned 

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant major plus 10+ years of experience in talent acquisition or full-cycle recruiting, or 8+ years with a relevant Master’s degree in a high-tech industry, preferably in aerospace and defense. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing a talent acquisition team in a fast-paced recruiting corporate environment. 
  • Possesses strong working knowledge and experience with Federal and State employment laws including DOL, EEOC, ADA, VEVRAA, FLSA and OFCCP.  
  • Experience with college recruiting for direct hires and internships/co-ops. 
  • Proven experience with sourcing a diversity of candidates including women, minorities and veterans.  
  • Thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. 
  • Successful track record of utilizing traditional and innovative research and sourcing strategies to attract a high quality and diverse work force including networking, social media, job boards and other sourcing for active and passive candidates. 
  • Desire to be hands-on recruiting while managing the function both strategically and tactically. 
  • Thorough understanding of technology, technical roles and technical skills. 
  • Able to use talent and market insights and data to influence decisions and executive-level audiences. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and customer service skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and time management/ multi-tasking skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines while prioritizing tasks and delegate when appropriate. 
  • Ability to function in a high-paced, dynamic, and rapidly changing environment. 
  • Must have a sense of urgency with a mindset of continuous improvement driven by data. 
  • Prior experience creating an optimal candidate and hiring manager experience. 
  • Proficient with Jobvite ATS or similar recruiting system and Microsoft Office Suite.   
  • Travel up to 20% may be required.  

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Master’s degree is a plus. 
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Senior Certified Professional is desired.  
  • (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred-SHRM’s Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
