SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $75,000 to $105,000 / year. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.
SUMMARY
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) aerospace manufacturing organization at Edge Autonomy. As a Quality Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality UAS/UAV products and components by implementing and maintaining quality standards, conducting inspections and tests, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Your expertise in quality engineering principles, attention to detail, and analytical skills will contribute to our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements for UAS/UAV manufacturing.
- Conduct inspections and tests on UAS/UAV components, subassemblies, and finished products to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, production, and engineering, to identify and resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, test procedures, and quality records, to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Perform root cause analysis and utilize statistical analysis tools to identify trends, patterns, and areas for process improvement.
- Participate in design and manufacturing reviews to ensure quality requirements are considered and incorporated throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support the development and implementation of quality assurance plans and quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100, to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external partners to establish quality requirements, conduct supplier audits, and monitor supplier quality performance.
- Assist in the development and execution of quality training programs for employees to enhance awareness and understanding of quality requirements and processes.
- Investigate customer complaints and warranty claims related to quality issues and work closely with customer service and engineering teams to implement corrective actions and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance data, including metrics, non-conformance reports, and customer feedback, to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve overall quality.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in quality engineering practices, and regulatory changes relevant to UAS/UAV manufacturing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:
- Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in the aerospace manufacturing industry, preferably with exposure to UAS/UAV products.
- Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles, methodologies, and tools, such as statistical process control, root cause analysis, and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to aerospace manufacturing, such as AS9100 or ISO 9001.
- Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-610 and J-STD-001H
- Experience using an ERP system.
- Experience in conducting inspections, tests, and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Proficiency in using quality tools and software applications for data analysis, such as Minitab or statistical analysis software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve quality-related issues effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in performing inspections and tests.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate quality-related information to cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong working relationships.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate company messages and feedback to a broad array of diverse staff.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Relevant certifications, such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma certification

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
