SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $72,000 to $103,500 per year in Huntsville and $81,5000 to $116,500 per year in San Luis Obispo. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.
SUMMARY
This role will focus on the company’s financial transactions, from fixed payment and variable expenses to bank deposits and budgets while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. The responsibilities of a Senior Accountant include reviewing vendor bill entry, preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting, excellent attention to detail and deep knowledge of regional laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.
- Prepare financial statements and regulatory reporting documents.
- Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.
- Analyze finances to ensure they are accurate and compliant with laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations.
- Develop budgets and financial plans for the company based on research and data reports.
- Respond to information requests by management and outside consultants and auditors.
- Document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Maintain knowledge of relevant accounting laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure accurate and timely submission of accounting reports.
- Assist auditors and consultants with financial reviews as required.
- Assisting in the training and development of other accountants in the department by providing guidance on best practices and resolving complex accounting issues.
- Assist in maintaining current company policies as they relate to accounting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment contracts in relation to financial reporting.
- Address finance and accounting-related inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
The following are non-exhaustive qualifications for the position:
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related is preferred (or equivalent experience)
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook, Jamis and related accounting software
- At least 8 years’ experience in accounting
- At least 5 years’ experience working with government contracting, with specific understanding of DCAA compliance
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, accounting standards, and industry regulations standards.
- Experience with accounting software implementation and evolution is desirable.
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive employee information.
- Experience in account reconciliation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
