Legal Advisor
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Advisor with a strong background in EU law and cross-border legal matters to join our growing legal team. This role will support our legal department with corporate matters, regulatory compliance, employment and EU-specific legal issues. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, proactive, and eager to contribute to various legal projects that require knowledge of EU regulations and cross-border legal matters.
We aim for the selected candidate to start in June 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Research & Compliance Support: Conduct research and provide legal analysis on EU regulations, case law, and compliance matters, including corporate governance, competition law, and GDPR.
- Corporate & Employment Law Advisory: Provide legal guidance on corporate, employment, and contract matters, ensuring compliance with EU laws and best practices.
- Contract Drafting & Review: Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with EU legal standards.
- Cross-Border Legal Matters: Support legal aspects of international operations, addressing issues related to trade, taxation, dispute resolution, and cross-border transactions.
- Dispute Resolution & Risk Management: Assist in resolving legal disputes, including mediation, arbitration, or legal proceedings, and help mitigate risks in business activities.
- Regulatory Filings & Reporting: Assist with regulatory filings and ensure adherence to EU law, including data protection and competition regulations.
- Internal & External Communication: Collaborate with internal teams, external legal counsel, and regulators to manage legal matters and communication.
- Administrative & Case Management: Maintain legal records, track deadlines, and assist in organizing and preparing materials for meetings and hearings.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Qualified lawyer with admission to practice law in Latvia or another EU member state. Master’s degree in EU Law or equivalent specialized qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in corporate and employment law, with demonstrable expertise in EU regulations and cross-border transactions.
- In-depth knowledge of key EU legal frameworks, including competition law, data protection (GDPR), intellectual property, trade regulations and employment law.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply EU directives and regulations to business operations.
- Fluent in Latvian and English (C1 level or higher, written and spoken) is required. Knowledge of another EU language is an advantage.
- Excellent research, drafting, and analytical skills.
- Strong ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and effectively communicate with senior management and external stakeholders
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with multinational companies or international law firms.
- Familiarity with sector-specific legal concerns (e.g., finance, tech, energy, defense, aviation, etc.) that may impact corporate and employment law in the EU.
- Previous exposure to litigation, arbitration, or dispute resolution involving EU law.
