FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range for this role is $95,000.00 to $120,000.00 annually. This range reflects a good faith estimate based on the targeted level for the role and typical compensation benchmarks across U.S. locations. Actual compensation may vary depending on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, geographical location, and internal alignment.

 

SUMMARY

The Procurement Specialist with moderate supervision is responsible for the day-to-day purchasing activity of the company, following established company policy and procedures. The Procurement Specialist is responsible for working with supply chain management to communicate shortages, delays, and component obsolescence. The Procurement Specialist utilizes cost comparison tools, communicates and negotiates with vendors, and improves the overall purchasing process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties.

  • Own end-to-end procurement lifecycle for assigned categories including materials, components, equipment, and services
  • Purchase materials and supplies to support company objectives and ensure compliance with company policy, contractual flow downs and local laws.
  • Prioritize purchasing activities based on schedule and lead time
  • Review engineering/costed BOMs to ensure the purchasing information is up to date
  • Manage suppliers and ensure schedule is on track
  • Supports make vs buy decision via cost analysis
  • Coordinate non-conformance with Quality and ask vendors for their root cause analysis.
  • Support outsourcing, supplier qualification and supplier selection
  • Negotiate price, payment terms, lead time and long-term agreements.
  • Works with engineering and production for purchasing/productionizing prototype BOMs
  • Communicate with management as shorts, delays, or component obsolescence surface
  • Coordinate with accounting to ensure compliance with billing and taxation

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The following are a non-exhaustive list of qualifications for the position:

  • 5+ years' experience in procurement or supply chain, ideally within aerospace, aviation, defense, or similar environments
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, or Finance or equivalent experience.
  • ISO9001/AS9100 experience preferred
  • Understanding of procurement compliance in government contracting (e.g., FAR/DFARS, ITAR)
  • Knowledge of different commodities, materials and specs (mechanical, electrical, 3D-print, PCB’s, cable harnesses, connectors)
  • Experience in sourcing, supplier development, supplier assessment and cost reduction projects
  • Experience managing supplier KPI’s
  • Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities operation
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems
  • Strong Excel proficiency required
  • Ability to take initiative and think proactively
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Negotiation skills and supplier management skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong attention to detail

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work environment may involve a standard office setting while also incorporating elements of a production area. Employees will use standard office equipment, including computers, and must demonstrate stamina to sit or stand while maintaining attention to detail despite potential interruptions. The role may require occasional activities such as walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and bending. Vision is necessary for reading printed materials and a computer screen, while hearing and speech are essential for effective communication both in person and over the telephone. Additionally, the position may necessitate travel by air or automobile. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coats, to ensure safety in the production environment. Employees may be able to lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
