The Mid-Level Giving Manager implements a comprehensive cultivation and stewardship program for Mid-Level donors, called Justice Partners,  who contribute $1,000 to $35,000 annually. The Mid-Level Giving Manager serves as the primary contact for unmanaged Justice Partners. They connect with Justice Partners directly, manage the annual calendar, and enhance systems for the program.  The Manager builds constructive and effective relationships within the development team and across the organization and contributes to the overall positive working environment.
 
Some travel may be required to attend donor events, donor meetings, and other engagement opportunities, as well as meetings, trainings, and conferences.
 
This position reports to the Deputy Director, Outreach and Membership Services. This position is based in San Francisco, CA or remote from the U.S.  
 
Responsibilities
Stewardship and Qualification (75%)
  • Serve as primary contact for unmanaged Mid-level donors 
  • Respond to inquiries, and handle or redirect requests from Mid-level donors from all channels including incoming phone calls, Zendesk tickets, email requests
  • Develop annual stewardship plan and engagement calendar for Justice Partners that demonstrates appreciation, recognition, and engagement, ensuring collaboration across teams.
  • Coordinate benefit fulfillment for Justice Partners including special stewardship reports; continually analyze and optimize the Justice Partners benefits and stewardship cadence
  • Conduct routine appreciation efforts over phone and emails based on recency
  • Review and edit stewardship messaging to achieve relational goals, ensuring consistent brand, voice, and strategy across channels. 
  • Support Deputy Director in setting and tracking program metrics to highlight effectiveness of stewardship, benefits, and outreach efforts
  • Analyze and interpret program metrics to identify trends and augment stewardship strategies to improve efforts 
  • Builds relationships with donors via phone calls, video calls, meetings,, and email communication
  • Maintains functional knowledge of Earthjustice’s current and past program work in preparation for donor inquiries
  • Collaborates with Digital Fundraising and Engagement team on stewardship and retention efforts for Justice Partner Sustainers
  • Serve as primary representative for the mid-level giving team in the acknowledgement program, including but not limited to copy and list review, troubleshooting, ad hoc letter fulfillment, and implementation of new collateral

Donor Systems, Program Management, and Collaboration (25%)

  • Ensure the accurate recording of donor information and activities in the donor database, review gift documentation, review lists, and provide quality control in collaboration with Data Services and other teams
  • Create workflows and systems that support scalable, personal outreach and donor engagement.
  • Remain up-to-date on Zendesk system and user requirements
  • Promote team cohesion and a positive workplace culture by taking part in team, department, office, and organization wide meetings, trainings, skills sharing, and events
  • Monitor and remain apprised of trends in philanthropy
  • Recommend and implement solutions to improve outreach and program efforts, processes, and systems
  • During peak times, answer general donor gift calls and inquiries as part of the Outreach and Membership Services team
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years   of experience leading a stewardship, Mid-level giving, or membership program within a non-profit, philanthropic, or association work environment
  • Direct experience communicating with donors over phone, email, virtually, and  in-person
  • Direct experience soliciting donors or members, a plus
  • Experience with brand consistency and direct marketing desired
  • Exemplary organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple tasks, manage mail calendars, meet deadlines, and prioritize assignments
  • Superior communication skills, including in written correspondence, reports, and other print collateral
  • Ability to absorb and synthesize a broad range of information and communicate it in an understandable manner, vocally and in writing
  • Meticulous attention to detail, including excellent proofreading and copy-editing skills.
  • Solid knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. Database management skills required, with ability to produce reports and use advanced functions, including sophisticated knowledge of the Internet
  • Working knowledge of a constituent relationship management (CRM) system or donor database
  • Experience troubleshooting data-related problems
  • Background and/or interest in environmental issues preferred
  • Professional, positive, and approachable attitude. Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people, including donors, volunteers, the public, and staff
  • Experience navigating high-pressure situations
  • Contributes towards an equitable and inclusive work culture that encourages partnership, active listening, and integrating diverse perspectives.

Salary is based on location and experience.  
Salary range in San Francisco, CA and New York, NY: $109,600 - $121,800
Salary range in Los Angeles, CA, Washington, DC, Chicago, IL, and Seattle, WA: $104,200 - $115,800
Salary range in Denver, CO: $98,700 - $109,700
Salary range in Miami, FL, and Atlanta, GA: $93,200 - $103,600
Remote salary range will vary depending on specific location: $93,200 - $121,800
