The Team Lead , shall lead and guide employees to work towards achieving optimal productivity in the day-to-day operations of the unit. To direct the work activities, provide training, coaching and mentoring to new and existing employees. To assist the manager in performing administrative and operational tasks as required. To serve as a role model for employees by demonstrating Dynacare’s core competencies. To foster a positive and collaborative work environment, aimed at delivering best in class service to both internal and external customers.
Status: Permanent Full Time
Vacancy Type: Existing
Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.; Monday to Friday with rotational Saturday 5:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

How YOU will make a difference:
- Work under the direction of the Specimen Processing Manager, assisting with day-to-day operations and administrative duties, escalating issues to the manager as needed.
- Works as a team member in the lab and is available for support and able to fill any position within the group as operationally needed.
- Lead, guide and coordinate all assigned work activities for the workgroup (Sr. CLA’s, Coordinators and LA’s), in accordance with best practices and safe work practices and monitor to ensure that all is completed within the required deadlines.
- Within authority delegated by the manager, shift employees between assignments, reschedule shifts and ensure coverage for late or absent employees, in order to meet the operational needs of the unit.
- Attend regular meetings with the manager to discuss operational productivity, metrics, employee job methods and organizational updates/initiatives.
- In conjunction with the Manager, organize team huddles for sharing information related to day-to-day operations.
- Communicate relevant updates to the workgroup, as directed by the Manager, ensuring all members have read, understood, and are applying as needed.
- Monitor, analyze and assist in achieving required metrics for the workgroup, proactively making changes or suggestions to improve; provide reports where needed.
- Within authority delegated by the Manager, assist with providing feedback and coaching to work colleagues, raising any quality related concerns to the attention of the Manager for actioning.
- Assist in building and maintaining a healthy and positive work environment based on trust, respect for others, open communication, and teamwork, serving as a model to others.
- Promote a customer centric philosophy within the workgroup, with a focus on patient care.
- Ensure a safe and injury free work environment by promoting proper health & safety procedures.
- Ensure workplace accidents and injuries are recorded and the necessary protocols followed, in accordance with Dynacare’s standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist in the onboarding and training of new hires according to the established processes.
- Ensure training files and recurring training is up to date for workgroup, along with the accompanying necessary documentation.
- Encourage and support an environment of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Working collaboratively with tenure staff in the department
- The incumbent of this position is expected to perform all other duties as assigned; must be able to complete and achieve minimum thresholds on any mandatory testing and training; must be able to operate in a PC windows environment; have the ability to successfully complete all recurrence training and maintain annual accreditations where applicable.
What YOU bring to the role:
- Completed post-secondary education or higher (higher minimum educational requirement dependent on department)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- 3 years’ experience in a Laboratory environment with at least One (1) year of Dynacare work experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with intermediate proficiency in Word & Excel
- Other technical skills as applicable to the department/function
- Has a good understanding of the Dynacare business and operating environment
- Able to effectively time manage, handle multiple priorities and deliver with strict timelines
- Able to clearly articulate and assist in executing the strategic objectives set out by the business
- Collaborate effectively across different functions, breaks down silos throughout the process
- Strong customer focus with the goal of offering best in class service to internal and external customers
- Continuous improvement mindset, always looking for innovative ways of doing things.

Working Conditions:
- Normal laboratory environment
- Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds
- Shift work which can include day, evening and weekends dependent on operational needs
- Availability to work overtime as needed
Pay rate: $22.00-$24.50 per hour
The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
