Clinical Laboratory Assistant
Dynacare is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our Chemistry team in London, ON. This is a full time, permanent role working,37.5 hours per week. Day shift, Monday to Friday (Subject to change based on department needs)
Perform pre and post analytical processes in the chemistry laboratory including maintenance and inventory procedures. Work in collaboration with Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technical Assistants. Collaborate and communicate with staff across departments and locations.
Responsible for the preparation of samples and/or reagents for routine processing. Perform simple non-interpretive tests under the supervision of a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist as required. Ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Participate in all quality assurance programs and ensure company and Ministry of Health guidelines are observed. Perform routine maintenance of laboratory equipment as appropriate. Work in collaboration with Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technical Assistants.
· Ensure that all samples are properly labeled and identified before testing
· Follow established protocol for the handling of unsuitable samples
· Operate complex instruments following department procedures
·Perform simple non-interpretive testing procedures under the supervision of a qualified technologist
·Ensure that all abnormal, critical and STATS are processed as outlined in the department guidelines
·Responsible for the follow-up on missing samples, documentation and results as and when required
·Ensure all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner
·Ensure adequate amount of supplies are on hand and that validated reagents and testing kits to be used are in date order
·Ensure that Quality Control checks are performed as required in documented work procedures and refer results for technologist to review
· Responsible to follow all relevant pre and/or post analytical quality protocols as described in the company QA manual
·Perform routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures, including glassware maintenance.
·Document all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer’s instructions
· Responsible for disinfecting the work area and equipment on a daily basis
· Store and discard specimens according to appropriate department procedure manuals
· Graduate of an approved laboratory assistant course or equivalent
· Secondary School Graduation Diploma
·Clinical Chemistry Laboratory experience would be an asset
· MLPAO certification would be an asset
· Strong Data entry skills
·MS office skills
·Excellent verbal and written communication skills
