We’re looking for a National Scientific Portfolio Manager to join our Clinical Development and Quality Assurance team! The National Scientific Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting the national coordination of strategic long-term initiatives, tests, or services of scientific/clinical importance, as it pertains to the pre-implementation phase. You will be involved in defining strategies and processes to select, prioritize, and implement new tests and services, in collaboration with relevant teams across Dynacare. In particular, you will be expected to liaise with Dynacare Scientific discipline leads (i.e., Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Pathology, and Genetics), Business Development, and the Project Management Office (PMO) in the delivery of their goals. You will be expected to provide administrative support as required, support alignment of Scientific and cross-functional resources with new test and process implementation, and post-mortem assessment to determine implementation success or highlight where additional support is required.

How YOU will make a difference:
- Support Scientific strategic planning with oversight from the discipline directors and the CSO & VP of Clinical Development and Quality Assurance (CDQA).
- Support enterprise goal planning and prioritization annually, with a focus on strategic scientific/clinical initiatives, following a scheme that ensures appropriate resource allocation to address both planned and unplanned initiatives, while coordinating Organizational Integrated Planning (OIP) for Dynacare, nationally, as it pertains to strategic long-term initiatives, tests, or services, of scientific/clinical importance.
- Support coordination of new test/service intake and pre-implementation planning to ensure resource alignment and integration of the Scientific portfolio throughout the organization.
- Support gap assessment to identify risks (i.e., tests offered by competitors but not available to Dynacare) and opportunities (i.e., tests available in Labcorp but not available to Dynacare) of available and emerging technology and services.
- Develop processes and infrastructure to identify Labcorp tests for Dynacare implementation and coordinate with Labcorp counterparts to ensure technology transfer is completed successfully.
- Work with BD team to assess/validate opportunities in the Canadian market in collaboration with the relevant discipline lead.
- Coordination of meetings that relate to new initiative evaluation and pre-implementation planning.
- Work with sponsors and the corporate PMO to assign ownership and priority to projects; assess risks and manage appropriately with support from relevant stakeholders. This individual will oversee activities during project inception and pre-implementation phases, and collaborate with the PMO for hand-off following project initiation/approval.
- In collaboration with the Business Development (BD) function and PMO, define processes for project development, resource scoping and planning, financial impact and modelling requirements, and checkpoints and approvals required prior to initiation, to ensure resources are available prior to kick-off and hand-off to the PMO team. While this role will not be responsible for overseeing approved project progression and implementation, they will support post-implementation assessment to ensure implementation goals were met.
- Work with counterparts in BD and discipline leads to ensure proposed initiatives align with market realities in Canada.
- Demonstrate impact of goals delivered across the organization and externally using metrics and other quantifiable indicators (e.g., specimen volume, FTE, spend, revenue, and others) are as anticipated to assess implementation success or need for further action.
- Promote the CDQA functional activities by sharing updates on publications, conference presentations, innovations, and other notable accomplishments both internally and externally.
What YOU bring to the role:
- University degree with post-graduate training in a clinical scientific discipline is required; evidence of significant scientific knowledge and experience is preferred.
- Project Management training, certification, or experience is preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in managing complex projects is required.
- Operational or business experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory is preferred.
- Passion and broad interest in the areas of Diagnostic/Clinical Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Pathology, and Genetics.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Ability to organize work utilizing time management skills effectively
- Principles of quality management and continuous process improvement
- Comfortable with a broad range of scientific disciplines, with a particular focus on Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Genetics, and/or Pathology.
Working Conditions:
- Hybrid: normal office environment and remote work from home with a minimum of three days onsite
- Prolonged sitting, some standing, telephone use and dexterity using keyboard
- Travel may be required, both nationally and internationally, for in-person meetings with external stakeholders
