Position at Dynacare

Dynacare is looking for a Technical Specialist-Genetics to join our team in Brampton, ON.This is a Permanent,full-time opportunity.


  • Apply extensive analytical knowledge and function as the subject matter expert in method evaluation and development for Genetics at Dynacare
  • Assess, develop and validate methods, operate, maintain, fine-tune and troubleshoot these techniques and associated instrumentation in the clinical setting
  • Participate in the integration of new tests into Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) include development, QA and production testing
  • Effectively transfer the learning in order to ensure new methods are put into and maintained in operations, and act as a lead resource for planning, training, implementation and troubleshooting post implementation
  • Undertake additional administrative activities in support of the operations of the sub-function and of the fulfillment of the business plan
  • Collaborate with private sector partners to mobilize research and development resources and funding which may be appropriate in realizing certain opportunities
  • Coordinate project plans and activities and provide functional and technical expertise where needed and provide feedback to the Director on the status of projects and coordinates the flow of project information to relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in testing of clinical genetics patient specimens processed in the Impact Genetics department including analyses as required
  • Ensure the delivery of optimal molecular genetics results against appropriate performance metrics (systems, processes, procedures and activities)
  • Establish, monitor, measure and report performance metrics; analyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure products and services continuously meet or exceed customer expectation
  • Maintain records of projects and assists with relevant documentation
  • Participate in and contribute to external meetings and scientific publications as necessary

 Must have:

  • Knowledge of the full range of clinical molecular genetics techniques including next generation sequencing technologies
  • Competency in bioinformatics
  • Knowledge and experience in managing complex projects
  • Minimum B.Sc. in a Genetics-related Science and registered with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) in Clinical Genetics or extensive clinical molecular genetics experience

 Nice to have:

  • MSc. or Ph. D. in related science preferred
