WORKING SCHEDULE: | Monday to Friday 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (75 hours biweekly)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a variety of routine laboratory procedures to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Data enter all patient and test information for requisitions in an accurate and timely manner
Verify the completeness of all documentation and file related paperwork
Handle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required
Process add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection
Process all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate areas.
Follow all guidelines for the handling of infections material
Prepare specimens and documentation for reference testing
Ensure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory
Required to observe all safety precautions in the performance of all duties.
Other duties as assigned.
SKILLED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge
Graduate of a Laboratory Technician program or equivalent previous experience.
Medical terminology an asset.
Technical Skills
Excellent Data Entry Skills required

Ability to multitask and work in a team environment.
Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.
Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
