This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Paralegal – Banking/Financial Services Litigation to join our team in our Washington D.C. or New York office.
We offer a hybrid work engagement with two days of remote work, and three days in-office.
This position will play a critical role in the legal practice, providing a comprehensive range of support to attorneys and case teams on Banking & Financial Services matters. Substantial experience in banking, securities and/or financial services litigation is necessary to ensure the successful execution and management of our cases. The paralegal will work to preserve, collect and analyze information utilizing a variety of software programs.

On a typical day you will:
- Drafting forms, letters, or other legal documents
- Demonstrating effective verbal and written communication with clients, outside vendors, and other parties
- Manage multiple concurrent projects and prioritize assignments appropriately; determine and implement effective organizational and procedural methods
- Create and maintain, or oversee maintenance of files, documents, and data
- Prepare and edit a range of written materials, including correspondence, memoranda, drafts of legal documents, and factual analyses
- Comply with administrative requirements to meet billable expectations; prepare and release time entries on a daily basis
- Proofread and redline documents
- Support litigation, arbitrations, and regulatory examinations and investigations; compile, review, and organize information, materials, documents, reports, and evidence; conduct routine legal and factual investigations, factual research, and data/document collections
- Act as point person for internal and external contacts with little supervision; projects a highly professional image that creates a positive first impression for clients and other third parties
- Assumes responsibility to ensure deadlines and commitments are met; confirms that materials requested from others are received and requested actions are completed on time
- Organizes and prioritizes large volumes of highly confidential information, correspondence, memos, e-mails, phone calls, etc.
- Work closely with the attorneys in the Banking and Financial Services practice group on matters related to, and on behalf of, Banking and Financial Services clients
- Conduct legal research on laws, regulations (federal and state) and cases affecting the banking and financial services industry
- Draft memoranda, summaries of legal research and issues, responses to client correspondence, and such other documents as necessary
- Assist in the collection, organization and maintenance of legal documents
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, and co-counsel to maintain efficient case flow
- Prepare and file court documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests in state and federal courts and arbitration forums
- Manage multiple cases from start through resolution
- Perform complex fact research and analysis; retrieve and review documents from clients, other parties, and outside sources such as the Internet, public agencies, courts or libraries, and case, statutory and/or regulatory law; prepare memoranda or summaries documenting research
- Proofread legal memoranda to identify and correct typographical and grammatical errors; check all citations to legal authorities and to the evidence for accuracy of citations and forms of citation consistent with The Bluebook and/or specific court requirements; verify history of cited cases
- Extensive document management, including gathering, indexing, reviewing, analyzing and producing documents and data in various electronic formats
- Review and analyze case documents for production, including privilege review and preparation of privilege logs, exhibit lists and production logs
- Review and code electronic e-mails and case documents in Relativity
- Assist attorneys with preparation for depositions and regulatory testimony, mediations, briefs and trial preparation: assist with pretrial documents (deposition designations, exhibit and witness list, organize exhibits, files and other supporting documents
- Assist during trials, court proceedings, and arbitration: manage exhibits, coordinating witnesses, in addition to assisting with case presentation during trial and any other duties associated with trial
- Proactively serve as the focal point for litigation team communications and centralized repository for information on project assignments and status
- Draft and issue subpoenas for records depositions, witness depositions and attendance at trial
- Oversee creation, indexing, and continued maintenance of complex case files and document collections
Join us if you have:
- Bachelor’s degree and completion of paralegal program of study
- 5+ years of paralegal experience, in particular working in a banking and finance practice; litigation experience a plus
- Litigation and trial experience preferred
- Highly developed skills in time and task management
- Highly developed attention to detail in striving for perfection in the firm’s work product and client service
- Experience with written communications that are concise and accurate
- Experience communicating with clients and vendors
- Exhibit confidence and professional verbal communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in using all Microsoft Office computerized business applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) for the creation and editing of complex documents, spreadsheets, and e-mail
- Proficiency in using computerized legal research and document retention databases, like LexisNexis and Westlaw for performance of legal and fact research
- Proficiency in eDiscovery platforms, i.e., Relativity, for effective management of complex evidence and case files
- Proficiency in utilizing trial presentation software such as Trial Director or OnCue a plus
- Proficiency in using Document Management Systems, expense and billing systems also a plus

District of Columbia
The annualized salary range for this position in Washington D.C. is $88,000 to $117,000 ($45.13 - $60.00 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, telemedicine and virtual short term solution based counseling services, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, subsidized backup care and caregiving resources, 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include: voluntary accident insurance, voluntary life, voluntary disability, voluntary long term care, and pet insurance. Commuter and Transit programs are also available.
New York
The annualized salary range for this position in New York City is $93,000 to $136,000 ($44.71-$65.38 hourly). Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
