Technical Specialist - Mechatronics

ENGINEERING Auburn Hills, Michigan

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Subject Matter Expert with applied knowledge in design, analysis and validation of Mechanical and Electrical components for Mechatronic Systems.
  • Applied knowledge in the areas of actuators, gear trains, electronics packaging, and motor sizing for Mechatronics actuators in Automotive Applications.
  • Understanding of Controls and Electrical Systems is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of advanced analytical approaches for Model-based Design, FEA methods and simulation tools.
  • Responsible to develop product guidelines, best practices, de-bug and problem solve critical issues as a domain specific Subject Matter Expert.
  • Develop and document electromechanical requirements in DOORS Next Gen.
  • Design, develop and specify mechatronic actuator systems including motors, gears, control board logic, and vehicle systems monitoring.
  • Other responsibilities include actuator 3D modeling, GT&T, DFMEA, Stack analysis, 2D print checking, engineering documentation for release, design verification test plans.
  • Review and approve for definition, verification and validation of circuit designs and software architecture as defined by Systems Specifications.
  • Lead a team of engineers to conduct detailed Design Reviews, FEA analysis, 3D Stack analysis to deliver robust actuator designs.
  • Lead and review suppliers to investigate next generation solutions to support smaller, less expensive, reliable and innovative designs.
  • Provide direction to generate optimal technical solutions for advanced reliability, manufacturing and testing to the Engineering personnel for design issues
  • Maintains the Bill of Material (BOM) for mechatronic actuators.
  • Team oriented with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate design and development activities with resources across global teams from multiple regions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • APQP, DFMEA, DOE, DFSS (certified)
  • CATIA, 3DCS, MATLAB, Minitab
  • IBM Rational DOORS
  • Disciplined use of Automotive SPICE process

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (PhD. degree is preferred)
  • Experience – Minimum of (7) years working in the automotive or transportation industry.
