About the Role:
As a Longhole Driller at Dumas, you will be responsible for precision drilling of blast holes using Cubex drills in an underground hard rock mining environment. Your role is critical to achieving production targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. You will work closely with the drilling team and supervisors to ensure accurate drilling according to design specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Cubex longhole drills to drill blast holes according to engineered layouts and specifications.
- Read and interpret drill patterns, layouts, and technical drawings.
- Ensure proper alignment and positioning of drill rigs for optimal accuracy.
- Monitor drilling parameters and adjust as necessary to maintain hole quality and productivity.
- Install and maintain drill consumables (rods, bits, couplings) and manage inventory.
- Adhere to Dumas and site-specific safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and team members to meet production targets.
Qualifications:
- Ontario Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core with Specialty Modules in Longhole Drilling (or provincial equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years of underground longhole drilling experience, preferably with Cubex drills.
- Strong understanding of drilling techniques, ground conditions, and blasting principles.
- Ability to work in physically demanding and confined environments.
- Excellent safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
Schedule: 5/5/4 with 10-hour shifts
