About the Role:
As a Lead Raise Miner with Dumas, you will be responsible for leading raise development crews in the safe and efficient execution of Alimak raise and construction activities. You will oversee daily worksite preparation, coordinate crew activities, and ensure compliance with safety standards, procedures, and project requirements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of raise operations, sound decision making, and the ability to lead by example while maintaining productivity and safety in underground development environments.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead raise or construction crews in daily operations, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare work areas prior to commencement of work, including housekeeping, dust suppression, and safety checks.
  • Receive, clarify, and execute daily lineups from supervision.
  • Perform workplace and equipment inspections using the 5 point safety system and complete required documentation.
  • Ensure proper lockout and tagging procedures are followed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work plans to guide raise development activities.
  • Install ground support, timbering, and services as required.
  • Operate and oversee the safe use of raise and support equipment in accordance with regulations and procedures.
  • Monitor crew performance and provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to crew members.
  • Complete shift reports, requisitions, and documentation as required.
  • Report unsafe conditions or acts immediately and take corrective action where appropriate.
  • Participate in workplace inspections and hazard assessments.
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience operating Alimak raise equipment.
  • Proven experience leading or supervising raise or construction crews preferred.
  • Ontario Underground Hard Rock Miner Specialty Module U0064 or provincial equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of raise development methods, ground support, and underground construction practices.
  • Experience with bin reconstruction or raise rehabilitation considered an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations in underground mining environments.
  • Physically fit and capable of working in demanding underground conditions.
  • Outstanding safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
