We are currently seeking an experienced Workday Payroll Consultant (US & Canada) to join our Payroll team on a project basis. Enverus is implementing Workday HCM/Payroll globally with a target go-live of January 1, 2027, and this engagement provides hands-on implementation support to our internal North American Payroll team across the United States and Canada. You will work directly alongside Enverus payroll and HR professionals as a knowledgeable resource and subject matter expert — not a project manager — helping to configure, test, validate, and prepare the Workday Payroll module for go-live.

What You'll Do:

  •  Partner with the Enverus payroll team to assist with configuration (design/build/test) of Workday Payroll for US and Canadian pay groups, pay frequencies, and payroll calendars
  • Configure Canadian payroll elements including provincial tax rules and statutory deductions (CPP, EI)
  • Design and validate earnings, deductions, benefits integration payroll inputs, and compensation plan connections within Workday Payroll
  • Support gross-to-net reconciliation, parallel payroll testing, and mock runs to validate accuracy before go-live
  • Configure and validate off-cycle payment processes, retro pay, termination pay, and manual check workflows
  • Develop and document payroll business processes, configuration workbooks, and user-facing job aids for the internal payroll team
  • Identify gaps between legacy payroll system data and Workday requirements, support data mapping and conversion for historical payroll data
  • Collaborate with Workday Payroll Project Leads and the implementation partner to resolve configuration issues
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for payroll, including test script development, defect logging, and resolution tracking
  • Support the development, implementation, and documentation of internal controls related to Workday Payroll — including role-based access design and approval workflow validation — ensuring configurations align with Enverus' internal control requirements before go-live
  • Provide knowledge transfer and coaching to the internal payroll team throughout the engagement to build capability for sustained post go-live operations

 What Experience You Should Have:

  • 3+ years of Workday Payroll implementation experience, including at least two full-cycle North American implementations from design through go-live
  • Demonstrable hands-on configuration experience in Workday Payroll for US and Canada — not advisory or project management only
  • Deep expertise in US payroll compliance: federal withholding, FICA, FUTA, state and local income taxes, garnishments, and multi-state scenarios
  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll requirements: CPP/QPP, EI, and provincial income tax
  • Experience with Workday Pay Group, Pay Period Schedules, Payroll Control Groups, and payroll accounting configuration
  • Proven ability to support parallel payroll testing, reconciliation, and audit processes
  • Active Workday Payroll certification preferred; lapsed certification considered with recent hands-on experience
  • Familiarity with internal controls in a Workday Payroll context — specifically role-based security and approval workflow design as they intersect with payroll audit and compliance requirements
  • Strong communication skills and a coaching mindset — this role supports an internal team and the ability to transfer knowledge is as important as technical depth

 Nice to Have:

  • Experience supporting payroll integrations with third-party providers (e.g., OSV) during Workday transitions
  • Familiarity with Workday Absence and Time Tracking modules and their downstream impact on payroll
  • Experience supporting payroll implementations for mid-market to enterprise companies (500–5,000 employees)
  • Prior experience working as an embedded consultant alongside internal payroll teams rather than in a traditional consulting delivery model
