GENERAL FUNCTION:            

The Payroll Specialist performs payroll-related functions, including payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, automated timekeeping systems and payroll reporting in a multi-site, multi-state, high-volume environment. The Payroll Specialist provides excellent customer service to managers and associates and is well versed in payroll compliance, taxes and reporting.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining payroll information by collating, calculating and entering data weekly
  • Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and saving deductions
  • Escalation point of contact for resolving and investigating any employee concerns. 
  • Significant involvement in payroll and attendance employee relations.
  • Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, compassionate leave and non-taxable wages 
  • Calculating payroll liabilities by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation
  • Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries
  • Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Kronos Workforce Central Timekeeping, Scheduling, Attendance, and Analytics application and future modules as well as the time clocks.
  • Assess trends, provide key insights and benchmark against other factories to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

  • Strong computer skills such as excel, Kronos/UKG, and software knowledge
  • Accurate data entry skills / detail oriented, exhibiting strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate with employees regarding their issues and concerns
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems through effective customer service interface and communication Ability to multitask in a stressful environment with specific deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a time-sensitive environment
  • Confidentiality and respect for the privacy of employee records
  • Quickly and easily adapts to change and shifting priorities with enthusiasm
  • Actions and words consistently provide positive motivation and influence to their team and other teams within Dreyer’s
