This Production Manager will ensure the effective and consistent management of the manufacturing site.  They will look to consistently achieve production and cost targets, through effective management of the processes, teams, and equipment. In this role, you will help the business achieve service levels with our customers through the timely manufacturing of products, to the right quality, specification, food safety standards. This will be achieved by ensuring that production teams are effectively coordinated and managed, by having the knowledge and understanding of ice cream production, and attention to detail. We are looking for a Production Manager who can provide all teams with inspiration, guidance, and motivation.

 

Role and Activity

  • To ensure our manufacturing facility is clean, always organized, and operating according to factory standards
  • Build and develop a production team with ice cream knowledge; train the “WHY”, not just the “HOW”
  • Correct allocation and use of labor, use of crewing plans, registers, and break timings
  • Maintain consistent skill coverage across all shifts, re-balance shifts where necessary
  • Ensure the DRM information is complete and drives the results by highlighting the issues and root cause
  • Ensure effective hand over between production teams and maintenance
  • Remove all unnecessary administrative duties from the team, ensuring they spend their shift on the production floor
  • Ensure the team has the tools to do the job, and that everything is in its place, no clutter
  • Build a culture of support coming to the factory
  • Own NPD trials from concept to launch
  • Drive the production process to meet customer specification, quality, and food safety standards
  • Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production attainment meets targeted outputs through effective management of production plans and manufacturing processes
  • Manage, monitor, and control costs to ensure factory spend, and product costs are within budgeted requirements
  • Provide a visible presence in production daily to guide, coach, and monitor
  • Control the issues, activities, and be accessible to all
  • Communicate effectively with the entire team through meetings, memos, team briefings, etc. on a regular basis
  • Carry out appraisals with your team to ensure performance and effective training is taking place throughout production on a regular basis
  • Be proactive in looking for areas of improvement
  • Adopt techniques and practices that ensure there is a quality environment in production
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are fully met and a positive safety culture is maintained throughout the factory
  • Ensure you walk the talk and use the looking eyes, attending to issues as and when they happen
  • Take ownership of audit corrective actions and drive a culture of the team identifying and taking action before the auditor
  • Communicate consumer complaints and Benchmarking results to your team and action improvements going forward
  • Ensure that new and seasonal employees are managed and introduced effectively
  • Make your team accountable for what they do
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years experience in a Production or Plant Manager role, food manufacturing preferred. Experience with automated production equipment strongly preferred
