The Dock Administrator is responsible for the effective and consistent management of the warehouse area. To ensure all warehouse activities are met while always maintaining the highest levels of quality, safety & hygiene. This will be achieved by ensuring the warehouse area is effectively coordinated and managed, through having clear knowledge and understanding of requirements, attention to detail and providing all team members with inspiration, guidance & motivation.

 

Role and Activity

  • Coordinate the team to receive, store, and deliver all materials to the Production Lines in a safe and efficient manner. Assign work to team members as needed. Pay attention to details and stay focused!
  • Make cost effective decisions in a timely manner. This includes quality, safety, speed, and waste
  • Understand the process of Materials Warehousing. Know how to perform all job duties including receiving, storage, product transfers, shipping, line running, production schedules, returns, lot tracking, tempering/ thawing, cycle counting, SAP functions and RF system operation
  • Have the computer skills and aptitude to operate various warehouse management systems (SAP and RF) spreadsheets, word-processing documents, etc.
  • Work with trucking outfits to schedule delivery appointments
  • Work with HUB group and Recycling companies to schedule pick-up of all recyclable materials (plastic/wood/metal)
  • Properly fill out all paperwork needed for operations
  • Ensure that all packaging and raw materials are properly rotated on a First Expired First Out (FEFO) basis
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all Dry Warehouse storage, receiving, and tempering areas (includes ambient and frozen receiving docks, ambient, 40 degree and -20 warehouse locations, flammable rooms, tempering and hot box areas, all staging areas and pallet transfer areas) forklifts, work carts, stretch wrap machines, conveyors, dock, and floors.
  • Communicate with Production Team and Quality Team as appropriate to ensure smooth operation and timely resolution of any issues
  • Keep team informed of department performance, quality, efficiency, and safety
  • Safely transfer pallets from wood to plastic using the Pallet Transfer System and/or forklifts
  • Be certified on safe operation of all Material Handling Equipment
  • Instill a sense of urgency within the team to accomplish goals and tasks
  • Know and understand department metrics of quality, reliability, and safety
  • Ensure team members use their time wisely and efficiently
  • Ensure team members are properly trained. Plan/Execute/Follow Through/Inspect what you Expect. Look at weekly production schedule and know what product is scheduled and the lines priority
  • You are responsible for Dry Warehouse performance, efficiencies, waste, quality, safety, results. Hold people accountable for their jobs as you are held accountable
  • Find root cause and solutions to problems
  • Ensure team members attend shift hand offs
  • Follow, monitor, and understand all GMP/HACCP/QMS and product safety regulations
  • Keep waste to a minimum
  • Train others as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

1-3 years warehouse experience, preferably in a manufacturing setting
