MAIN PURPOSE

To ensure that the factory have correct amounts of raw materials/ packaging in relevant times for the manufacturing process of any given product. Thus, ensuring that production can achieve their targets. And in the event of any raw material or packaging problems or issues arising ensure that the relevant teams are informed in good time.

ROLE AND ACTIVITY

• Create an optimized replenishment plan for raw and packaging materials that ensures supply of materials to production whilst maintaining optimal inventory levels.
• Monitor working capital for raw and packaging materials ensuring it aligns with the outlined stock policy.
• Monitor supply signals ensuring delivery dates, lead times and required quantities are correct to create purchase orders.
• Follow-up with suppliers to ensure material fulfillment. Tracking should be completed, and action taken when material unavailability could cause a line shutdown.
• Manage directly with the defined supplier the delivery of materials: this includes creating, sending and confirming, receiving, investigating errors and discrepancies on blocked or parked invoice lines and handling all exceptions/ issues in those operations, including claims management.
• Identify possible material supply concerns and roadblocks for the factory utilizing the long-term replenishment plan.
• Manage new materials, properly set-up the new item for introduction to the factory, and availability for first production. Work with QA, technical groups, and production scheduling when testing of new materials is required in the plant.
• Build and maintain amicable supplier relationships.
• Be aware of the production plan at all times, enabling you to keep an up to date schedule of raw materials and packaging that may be needed.
• Manage new products and product changes in terms of new artwork and set up for packaging.

MEASURABLE OUTCOMES

• Use MRP system, print off requirements, call off raw and packaging materials weekly, send the four-week planning forecast every Friday.
• Ensure that the factory does not stop due to supply chain.
• Create and maintain procedures of working practices on Ingredient Procurement.
• Order materials at required times and quantities.
• Set up and maintain supplier contact information, along with transport and off hours details.
• Build a relationships with suppliers, keep and file all correspondence, look to improve forecast information, maintain offsite stocks for busy periods if necessary.
• Communicate with manager, and factory verbally and via e-mail, any issues on shortages, and/ or quality.
• Keep desk clean and organized.
