General Position Description:

Lead complex cross functional projects from conception to delivery. Requires mastery of project management skills that include schedule, resource and capital management for multi-million-dollar project scopes. Effectively interacts with key stake holders at all levels; from factory floor to corporate level in addition to providing technical leadership and direction to Project Engineer I & II levels.

Position Responsibilities:

Contributes to the day-to-day management of complex, multi-faceted projects within the LOC Technical Operations Department

  • Coordinates, monitors, drives submission and tracking of engineering efforts for budget and spend plan against capital budgeted estimated spend
  • Works closely with the Engineering Manager to identify and implement process improvements to optimize equipment reliability and build technical capability.
  • Anticipates and guides recovery plans for capital projects
  • Coordinates submission and tracking of capital project budgets and spend plans with the Plant Controller.
  • Interface with other functional leads and customer counterparts to facilitate completion of cross-organization activities and objectives.
  • Performs status reporting to management and customer on progress and facilitates discussions and business rhythms to assure goals are met. E.g., coordinate, facilitate, and support weekly scheduling reviews, cost reviews, Program status reviews, project, variance reporting, and provide inputs to manager for group level monthly operating reviews with the customer
  • Assists in the development of the Engineering Department work systems to improve the effectiveness of the engineering team

 Experience:

  • BS in Engineering (mechanical, electrical or related) - required
  • 10 + years of project engineering experience - required
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large projects greater than $5 million from concept through commissioning using cross functional teams and strategic stakeholders - required
  • Food and/or Dairy or Aseptic manufacturing experience - required
  • High speed packaging and automated systems experience - preferred
  • Electrical, process and control systems integration experience - required
  • Ammonia refrigeration system experience - preferred
  • Clean in place system (CIP) experience – preferred
  • Utility services including water, compressed air, HVAC, steam, electrical power, lighting - required
  • Experience in infrastructure strategic planning - preferred

  • Strong technical, managerial and leadership skills - required

  •   Plant design & construction – preferred
  •   In-depth knowledge of food processing plant and technology - required
  •   Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and equipment - preferred
  •   Communication and Networking.
    • Effectively communicate with senior management through written word, face to face, and online or live presentations - required
  • Understands interpersonal dynamics and can effectively build team consensus while minimizing conflict, concerns, and debate - required
  • Understanding of financial analysis and relevant business drivers - preferred

  • Fluent in MS Power Point, Word, Excel & Project - required.
  • Familiar with SAP - preferred
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD - required.
