Position summary:

This is a new product development based technical leadership role providing direction for and execution of projects across the US ice cream business. The role serves as the technical lead and project manager on project teams driving delivery of the Innovation & Renovation portfolio, Brand Maintenance, and Ensure Supply projects. The New Product Development Specialist represents the New Product Development (NPD) Team as the subject matter expert for product & process to transfer knowledge to the factories and drive continuous improvement.

  • Implementation of Innovation & Renovation strategy for the supported product categories in the Market.
    • Implement/execute product & process development activities (e.g. mockup, bench top, pilot plant, distribution testing, and internal/external factory testing) to achieve project goals and deadlines to delight the consumer & customer.
    • Lead, Scope, and Drive project team, utilizing project management tools, to achieve project goals and deadlines to delight the consumer & customer.
  • Introduction of new processes within the factories and manufacturers. Collaborate (marketing, technical & production, raw material suppliers, etc.) in a team environment to develop, industrialize, and launch new products, quality improvements, compliance, and efficient cost savings.
  • Continuously improve/optimize current product and processes within factories and external manufacturers according to local business needs and supply situation and/or implementation of initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to all company standards. Align with Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream requirements (includes Nutritional Requirement and Sustainability), external standards, and local regulatory framework. Create and/or assist in the development of market level standards within the Dreyer’s systems.
  • Continuous improvement of technical skills and personal development, while growing internal and external networks.
  • Develop expertise for product/process mastership within NPD. Develop the proficiencies required for product/process mastership to enable manufacturing excellence. Provide mentorship and input to Associate NPD team members and  Operations.
  • Provide first line support to factories. Ensure knowledge transfer related to product/process mastership to eliminate the root cause of assistance requests

 

Position requires approximately 20-50% travel.

 

Requirements and minimum education level:

A BS or MS degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • Prefer minimum 3 years of product/process development experience in CPG or similar work in factory environment

Required skills:

  • Ability to work in a fast paced and high performing environment that encourages creative problem solving
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently and demonstrate the ability to complete work with minimal guidance.
  • Strong understanding of Design of Experiments
  • Strong communication skills: interpersonal, presentation, oral and written

  • Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Power Point, Word, Project skills
  • Preferred: SAP & Project Management experience
