Position Summary:

To ensure that the factory have correct amounts of raw materials/ packaging in relevant times for the manufacturing process of any given product. Thus, ensuring that production can achieve their targets. And in the event of any raw material or packaging problems or issues arising ensure that the relevant teams are informed in good time.


Role and Activity:

  • Create an optimized replenishment plan for raw and packaging materials that ensures supply of materials to production whilst maintaining optimal inventory levels.
  • Monitor working capital for raw and packaging materials ensuring it aligns with the outlined stock policy.
  • Monitor supply signals ensuring delivery dates, lead times and required quantities are correct to create purchase orders, including contracts.
  • Follow-up with suppliers to ensure material fulfillment. Tracking should be completed, and action taken when material unavailability could cause a line shutdown.
  • Manage directly with the defined supplier the delivery of materials: this includes creating, sending and confirming, receiving, investigating errors and discrepancies on blocked or parked invoice lines and handling all exceptions/ issues in those operations, including claims management.
  • Identify possible material supply concerns and roadblocks for the factory utilizing the long-term replenishment plan.
  • Always prioritize time in the shop floor to ensure our manufacturing facility is clean, organized and operating under factory standards. Actively looking for improvements in raw and packaging materials for operation benefits.
  • Manage new materials, properly communicate and set-up the new item for introduction to the factory, and availability for first production. Work with QA, technical groups, and production scheduling when testing of new materials is required in the plant.
  • Be aware of the production plan at all times, enabling you to keep an up to date schedule of raw materials and packaging that may be needed.
  • Manage new products and product changes in terms of new artwork and set up for packaging.
  • Ensuring the MRP system within SAP/ JD is always up to date and operational, including flammable materials.
  • Manage and monitor inventory to minimize write off (Batch Age/Dormant/obsolete Report/S Hold material/DISCO items/UMD database).
  • Ensure Supplier Management Improvement to minimize material and transportation issues. Focus on First Time Right.
  • Clean desk policy.
  • Attend weekly planning meeting to ensure alignment with operations and scheduling team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).


Measurable Outcomes:

  • Use MRP system, print off requirements, call off raw and packaging materials weekly, send the planning forecast every week to ensure production 12 weeks out.
  • No production downtime due to non-delivery by supply chain.
  • Quality defects kept at a minimum.
  • Systems in place for effective inventory management to minimize write off costs.
  • Create and maintain procedures of working practices on Ingredient & Packaging Procurement.
  • Order materials at required times and quantities.
  • Set up and maintain supplier contact information, along with transport and off hours details.
  • Build and maintain amicable supplier relationships, keep and file all correspondence, look to improve forecast information, maintain offsite stocks for busy periods if necessary.
  • Communicate with manager, and factory verbally and via e-mail, any issues on shortages, and/ or quality.
  • Keep desk clean and organized.
  • Meeting targets on agreed time scales.
  • Daily shop floor presence for you.
