Department Manager

As a Department Manager, you are responsible for the efficient day-to-day operation of the department at one of our sites, working closely with Global technology leadership, as well as other senior staff within the facility. The role serves as a local senior point of contact in support of the department's global efforts.

As a key member of the local Local Technology management team, you will also be expected to chair and regularly contribute in meetings with senior management as well as interface with seniors in other departments.

You will further develop your leadership skills and have the opportunity to work with some of the most talented individuals in the industry.

Essential Job Functions 

  • Line Management of all technical teams at local site including tech services teams i.e. (Pipeline, PMO, Research, IMS, Product development and Core Services)
  • Communicate, champion and ensure governance of company policies and processes within the dept i.e. (HR, Legal and other departments within DNEG)
  • Point of contact for teams at site for any support from HR, Finance, Payroll and Recruitment or for any team escalations.
  • Create and maintain dept process and management / best practice documentation, i.e. policies on Internal transfers, new hires, onboarding and orientation.
  • Managing Timesheets holidays and general absence management.
  • Supporting the team and the leadership to build bridges on team morale, peer relationships, team engagement, mentoring, training, workshops, hackathon events etc.
  • Supporting and leading requisition approvals , conducting Interviews and benchmarking process via DNEG Job Architecture with HR
  • Supporting the leadership team with mentorship programs, succession planning and career path for the team.
  • Maintaining an up to date skill matrix to highlight skills gaps. (supporting the process to address these gaps into your recruitment plan)
  • Support Functional and tech leaders with Annual Reviews and Performance Management Process and support with setting up annual goals for individuals.
  • Support Functional managers with Facilitation of conflict and disciplinary process (In coordination with HR where required)
  • Supporting Leadership with team Budget tracking and management.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Strong leadership skills with excellent time management and prioritization capabilities.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical members of the business.
  • Empathetic leader, facilitator, motivator, delegator, mentor and coach.
  • 3+ years’ experience line managing teams, working closely with HR, recruiting and training
  • Track record of supervising a team of direct reports

 

Supervisory Responsibility 

  • You have 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Highly developed problem solving and abstract thinking skills.
  • Advanced communication skills.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving workplace.
