Senior Application Analyst

 
Your Role: 

Reporting to the Manager, Process and Mill Systems, your role will be as a Senior Application Analyst supporting the Domtar Pulp and Paper's manufacturing systems. 

More specifically, you will have to:

  • Research, troubleshoot and resolve end-user problems and requests in multiple applications for production facilities across the US and Canada.
  • Gather and document business requirements and functional specifications in collaboration with other IT teams as needed.
  • Perform upgrades, develop enhancements and provide general technical support for the various internally developed and purchased applications under your responsibility.
  • Work with software vendors to understand technology roadmap and application strategy.
  • Look for and offer opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce cost and simplify the complex application landscape.
  • Participate in integration and standardization projects to implement and support common solutions that further the established IT strategy.
  • Provide Level 1 and level 2 support for the production environment.
  • Participate in an after hour on-call rotation schedule to provide support.

You must successfully complete a selection process that includes interviews, aptitude tests (for some positions), criminal background investigation, references verification and pre-employment drug-screening. 

Your profile:

  • You have a BA/BS degree in an IT related field of study or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT
  • Ideally the candidate should have some leadership skills, experience and/or training
  • Experience in running projects
  • The ability and willingness to travel to manufacturing facilities is essential. Travel is typically less than 10% but may be more initially and during projects.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and working with raw material, product costing, warehouse vehicle tracking or other typical manufacturing applications is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ITIL and Audit controls is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, SQL Server and VB scripting is a significant advantage.
  • Strong skills in problem solving and critical thinking.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong teaming skills, ability to work with diverse teams, multiple organizational levels and across business functions.
