Description

The Domtar Paper Mill in Rothschild is a heavy manufacturing environment, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  All production employees must be able to work rotating shifts safely and have a strong commitment to safe working behaviors.  Employees must have mechanical aptitude, basic computer and math skills, decision-making and communication skills, as well as the ability to be flexible and work in a team environment.  Employees must be able to work outdoors in all weather and must be able to wear safety equipment, such as a hard hat, ear plugs, safety shoes, and safety glasses.  Employees must be able to climb ladders and high stairways; the position requires physical endurance, and the ability to work in a hot and humid environment.  Employees must be willing and able to qualify to safely operate forklifts, lift trucks, and other motorized equipment. 


Specific physical requirements are as follows:

  1. Must be able to sit for up to 3 hours in an 8 hour shift
  2. Must be able to stand up to 6 hours in an 8 hour shift
  3. Must be able to walk up to 6 hours in an 8 hour shift
  4. Must be able to drive up to 5 hours in an 8 hour shift
  5. Must be able to bend/stoop frequently
  6. Must be able to twist occasionally
  7. Must be able to squat occasionally
  8. Must be able to climb frequently
  9. Must be able to reach occasionally
  10. Must be able to perform single grasping, pushing and pulling, and perform fine manipulation
  11. Must be able to operate foot controls
  12. Must be able to lift 75 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying up to 50 pounds
  13. Must be able to wear a respirator and meet HAZ MAT requirements

Minimum requirements include:
  *  High school diploma or equivalent
  *  Two years work or school experience within the last four years
