Position Description Converting Unit Leader

Rothschild Mill






Position Summary:  Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Converting Department.  Executes strategies to achieve mill key performance goals in Safety, Environment, Quality, Productivity and Cost.


Key Responsibilities: 





Safety:   Accountable for ensuring those activities in area of responsibility are carried out in conformance with mill, company, OSHA safety requirements and regulationsGoal - Injury Free Work Environment.



Environment:  responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted in compliance with applicable company, state, federal laws, regulations, and policies



Quality:  Responsible for producing a quality product that meets the needs of the customer.  Represent the Mill and Company with Customers, Sales, Product Management, Marketing and Planning; to maintain customer satisfaction.



People:  Responsible for the supervision of hourly and salaried personnel including annual performance reviews and individual development.



Costs:  Responsible for developing annual operating plans for area and managing to achieve or exceed the annual operating plans; responsible for identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities.



Production:  Responsible for developing annual operating plans and managing to achieve or excel the annual operating plans; responsible for identifying and implementing productivity improvement opportunities and machine efficiencies.



Engage and support Domtar Corporate Converting Functional Operations



Direct report to the Mill Manager.

Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership skills in supervisory position with 5+ years of supervisor experience and leadership of salaried and hourly positions.
  • Successful experience in promoting a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrated strength in computer, communication, troubleshooting, analysis, facilitator and leadership skills.
