The Packaging Engineer designs, sources, tests and implements packages as an integral part of the Product Development life cycle. This position works to identify and remedy any packaging issues — working cross-functionally and with suppliers to achieve quality and functional packaging. This individual will also be a proactive key contributor in shaping packaging processes and ways of working as the team and business grows.


  • Research, source, and/or help design primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging that is aligned with Business goals, including managing and consulting suppliers to ensure timely delivery for product launches.
  • Collaborate and communicate with key functions, such as Brand, Ops and Creative, to provide optimal design while considering cost, lead time, and quality feasibility. Responsible for effectively leading and project managing all packaging aspects of cost savings and new product launch initiatives.
  • Execute, facilitate, and document all packaging specifications, testing, and artwork — validating all physical packaging as well as print to meet Business quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing packaging issues involving designs, materials, processes, and handling. Work cross-functionally to provide creative, timely, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Remain current on packaging innovations throughout industry and understand how they could apply to the Business
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging, Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years in a Packaging Engineering role
  • Proficient in an array of packaging structure types and manufacturing processes
  • Extensive knowledge of product packaging test design, execution and analysis
  • Knowledge in packaging engineering drawings and dimensional analysis
  • Knowledge in packaging design validation standards (ISO, ASTM, etc)
  • CPG experience a must, personal care experience (liquid and hard goods) preferred
  • Experience with ArtiosCAD, CAPE software
  • Knowledge in both primary and secondary packaging
  • Experience with print processes and color matching
  • Successful track record in developing, project managing, and launching packages with demonstrated ability to execute results and quality
  • Must be versatile, highly detailed-oriented with strong follow-through to manage critical priorities and multiple fluctuating projects simultaneously and with autonomy
  • Highly motivated problem-solver and self-starter; capable of communicating and collaborating effectively and yet, work independently
  • Team player who is comfortable with leading projects both internally and with global external suppliers
  • Embracing of an agile and ever-changing product development pipeline, flexible enough to pivot priorities as the business requires
