We’re seeking a Software Engineer who specializes in ML Ops, ML platform development, and streaming and batch data pipelines. This Data Engineer will be a member of the Data Science & Engineering Team, a COE for Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics and Data Compute Systems. They will primarily operate within the team to build out our DSC ML Platform built on top of Kubeflow and AWS. They will secondarily operate across teams to architect and pipeline the data systems underlying the DSC ML Platform and DSC Data as well as all the specific types of systems and integrations needed to create maximum ML Business Impact.  The DSC ML Platform comprises data scientist dev and autoML environments, ML deployment operations, Business Experimentation and Reinforcement Learning Systems, and Customer Personalization Systems. The Data Engineer must communicate and work within the team with data scientists as primary stakeholders and eCommerce platform engineers as integration stakeholders as well as with product managers to ingest and surface Business-centric ML data. Key to success in this role will be a strong intuitive grasp of data processing systems and software design and the willingness to research and apply new technologies and architectures in order to meet innovative ML and business goals.


  • Maintain and Improve upon our DSC ML Platform built on:
    • AWS: Redshift, Spectrum, S3, Glue, Kubeflow, Sagemaker, AutoML, Python, Spark 
    • Distributed messaging, streaming, and compute platforms (Kafka, Spark, API micro- services)
  • Design and implement data applications on cluster computing and streaming engines
  • Design and implement data processing microservices and pipelines
  • Integrate with our vendors to collect and ingest 2nd and 3rd party data into our data lake
  • Work with data scientists to enhance our software with the latest in machine learning algorithms and predictive models
  • Collaborate to ensure the integrity and cleanliness of data sources, and to support the requirements of downstream data consumers
  • Mentor and guide team members
  • Establish and communicate team standards and best practices
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional squad with business stakeholders, product managers and engineers from other teams to create data-enabled features in both internal and customer-facing applications


  • Enthusiasm to work in a fast-paced engineering team
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years of prior experience with general software development
  • 3+ years experience working with data infrastructure in several of the categories listed above
  • 1+ years working on ML Infrastructure or Data Science Platform development
  • Fluency in SQL, Presto-SQL or equivalent query language
  • Expertise in Python, Java, Scala or similar programming languages
  • Experience working in the following domains is preferred: data mining, machine learning, statistical modeling, distributed systems, stream processing, data warehousing
  • Expertise with the following is a big plus: Kubeflow, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, Spark, EMR, Kafka, Samza, Redshift, Airflow
