Product Development is central to everything DSC does, we are a key partner to all functions in the business from creative ideation through to member comments. The Director Product Development is primarily focused on the delivery of the product development roadmap, collaborating on innovation but driving the timely execution with our vendor base and Unilever alike. This role will be involved in both seasonal fast-moving activity and longer-term strategic initiatives.

This is a key role to lead, support and work as part of the Product Development team to ensure

  • The best possible packaging components are developed for the DSC brands, supply chain and vendors
  • Product Launches including all associated testing & scale-up are conducted flawlessly for all our distribution channels
  • Unilever Packaging resources are used where it makes both Brand and business sense
Manage the design, sourcing, development, production, testing and delivery of these components on a timely basis and at the quality expected. Work with current suppliers & develop new vendor relationships to maintain ongoing quality standards, minimize costs and ensure products are designed for ease of manufacture.

Act as an ambassador for packaging & physical product internally, collaborate & educate the business on the latest innovations and acting as a key contact for all packaging related queries. Work closely with the R&D team to ensure the seamless flow of projects from idea to launch. 

  • All physical product development launch initiatives
  • Seamlessly transition from innovation ideation to development execution, ending in agreed quality standards for product, package and distribution ready item set up
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent technical field
  • Equivalent work experience: Consumer Product development experience equivalent to Degree experience
  • 10 years’ experience in consumer products packaging, product development or related industry, preferably personal care products
  • Technical knowledge and hands-on experience in the development of physical consumer products
