ROLE SUMMARY:
The Senior Manager, Consumer Insights will be a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the DTC and Retail businesses. Reporting directly to the Director, Consumer Insights, you will be working to identify consumer, shopper and market insights to guide strategic decision-making, retail strategy development, and drive brand growth. You and the Director will be instrumental in generating and socializing deep consumer insights through holistic reporting and data-driven storytelling. Your work will impact product innovation, testing, and launch, multi-channel marketing strategies, and campaign optimization. Proficiency in quantitative methods is required, and with qualitative methods preferred, as well as knowledge of syndicated and third-party data (IRI, NPD, GfK MRI, Kantar, Numerator, Euromonitor, Mintel, etc). The ideal candidate will have CPG and/or Retail/DTC/or agency experience, preferably within the beauty and/or personal care/grooming space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, manage and execute custom quantitative and qualitative research on multiple topics including, but not limited to, concept/product testing, seasonal planning, product benefit spaces, innovation, campaign optimization, etc.
  • Provide integrated, fact-based insights grounded in consumer knowledge and informed by a broader understanding of the business; Partner with key stakeholders to diagnose business challenges and translate them into well-defined questions that can be answered through research and analytics to provide strategic, actionable recommendations that drive growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify unmet consumer/shopper needs, market whitespace, and brand/category growth opportunities; Deliver strategic insights and recommendations for new products, new consumers, new usage occasions, portfolio optimization, commercial planning, and/or new marketing positioning and communication
  • Develop strong working partnerships with research vendors, holding them accountable for deliverables and driving value-added services; Assist with negotiating favorable contracts; Foster good working relationships both within the team and across the business
  • Create and deliver persuasive reports and presentations
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and proficiency in SPSS, SAS, or other statistical software packages
  • Familiarity and comfort with third-party and syndicated sources such as IRI, NPD, GfK MRI, Kantar, Numerator, Euromonitor, Mintel, etc.
  • Proficiency with programming surveys in Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey or similar platforms, is a plus
  • Demonstrated success collaborating, partnering and influencing at all levels and across all functions of an organization

  • Comfortable managing multiple requests, deadlines and deliverables in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

  • Proven leadership in managing others in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpretive skills-ability to quickly understand data, connect the dots, and draw conclusions
