The Restaurant Manager oversees daily operations of the café, deli, and coffee shop ensuring an exceptional guest experience, operational excellence, and financial success. This position leads a team dedicated to delivering high-quality food and service, maintaining brand standards, and fostering a welcoming and efficient environment. The Manager also partners closely with the catering and events team to create seamless, memorable experiences that reflect the Museum’s commitment to hospitality and quality.

 

Job Class: Full Time
Hiring Range: $75,000 - $80,000/year
Work Schedule: Varies. Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as business needs dictate.
Direct Reports: This position supervises a team of culinary staff, stewards, baristas and cashiers.

Essential Duties

  • Oversee daily café and deli operations, including opening/closing procedures, staffing, and inventory control.
  • Manages the scheduling and workflow of the Food Services Department.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards.
  • Manage product presentation, menu execution, and service quality in coordination with culinary leadership.
  • Champion a culture of hospitality and guest satisfaction throughout all café and deli operations.
  • Lead by example in delivering attentive, friendly, and efficient service to every guest by being present and working alongside teammates.
  • Demonstrates, trains, and promotes safety awareness; handles staff and guest injuries following Museum procedures.
  • Responsible for hiring and supervising staff.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in food or restaurant service management
  • 3 years’ of supervisory experience 
  • 1 year experience in events 
  • ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days) 
  • Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, and evenings as business needs dictate.

Working Conditions

  • Office: Moderate noise (business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the facility for extended periods, up to 8 hours in a day.
  • Lifting requirements: Medium physical effort required by handling up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • High volume production kitchen. Can be hot, cold, humid and/or slippery.
  • Strenuous physical activities like moving tables, chairs and clearing dirty dishes.
  • May require frequent walking, up and down stairs during set-up and during events.
