This is a Part Time (PT) episodic position with varying hours (approximately 4-12 hours per month). This position requires onsite work at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

The Research Assistant is responsible for collecting data directly through surveys, interviews, observations, and by interacting with visitors and community members. You will need to approach guests in the Museum, so you will be on the move! The data collected is used to help the Community Research & Collaboration team better understand current and prospective visitors and community members, guide programming and exhibitions, and ensure that the Museum is a responsive, inclusive institution. 

Job Class: Part Time
Hiring Range: $22/hr
Work Schedule: Episodic, onsite

Essential Duties

  • Interviews visitors and community members about their experiences/perceptions/ideas through surveys and questionnaires. 
  • Actively participates and understands the museum-wide DEAI strategy. 
    Completes all Museum-wide mandatory trainings. 
  • Represents the Museum in a positive and professional manner while interacting with visitors and community members. 
  • Frequently checks in with email communications and can easily respond to and follow written instructions. 
  • Actively participates in data collection by reliably showing up for a minimum of 1 half-day shift per month. 

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience. 
  • Ability to travel to other locations in the Denver area may be required. 
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends may be required. 
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. 

Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have

  • Bilingual (English and an advanced conversational speaker AND proficient in reading and writing in any of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Amharic, Somali, French or Dari). 
  • Willingness to help with additional shifts as needed.
