We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, people-first, catering consultant lead who oversees our catering team, while delivering exceptional event service and execution. This role is a mix of leadership, sales, and hands on coordination, perfect for the person who enjoys building relationships, leading a team, and working in a museum environment.

Job Class: Full Time
Hiring Range: $68,000 - $73,000/annually
Work Schedule: Must be flexible and available for evening events. 
Direct Reports: No direct reports but serves as the lead over the catering sales team.

Essential Duties

  • Develops, designs and implements successful sales strategies that drive the overall catering revenue sales of the department, meeting targeted monthly and annual budgeted goals.
  • Creates networking and marketing strategies for the catering sales team. Sells the use of museum facilities and catering services for external clients and internal departments. Develops and maintains an ongoing client base to utilize in conjunction with a sales marketing program.
  • Maintains sales skills, by staying abreast of current trends and event planning tools through ongoing education. Provides innovative ideas to entice clients to consider the Museum for their event.  Ensures events are within or exceed profit margins and are within the contractual parameters for the Museum.
  • Aligns team to achieve catering sales targets and drive revenue growth. Builds and maintains 18 month plans for the department.
  • Leads and supports the catering team ensuring accountability to expectations by providing guidance on client relations, sales goals, and service standards
  • Responsible for revenue goals, budget implementation, financial reporting, and communication to the catering team
  • Coordinates the use of museum facilities and catering services to achieve a successful event balance within policies and procedures of the museum. Provides proactive communication to all museum departments regarding events that may affect them.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years’ high volume catering.
  • 3-5 years’ sales experience in a hospitality environment.

  • Naturally aligns leadership and sales initiatives with a hospitality mindset.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the entire event lifecycle, from administrative planning to on-site execution.
