POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for planning, administrating, and monitoring consistent readiness of all quality, regulatory requirements, and patient safety processes including High Reliability Organization processes. The Quality Supervisor  will oversee and coordinate all hospital efforts to monitor and maintain compliance with all regulatory, State, Federal government and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization standards. Leads and directs the work of the Quality department staff members. This is completed by working collaboratively with all levels of care providers within the facility.

 

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

      Bachelor’s Degree (Nursing or other clinical healthcare license/degree).

      Prefer minimum experience of three years in Quality in a hospital setting

      Prefer experience with coordinating TJC preparation and participation in State and CMS surveys within the last three years

      Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. 

      Good written and verbal communication skills required.

      Some evening or weekend work will be required

      Bilingual – English/Spanish.

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE­:

      Prefer 3 years of quality management experience in healthcare

      Strong organizational, interpersonal, management and leadership skills.

      Proactive, self confident and recognized as a credible resource in patient care and patient safety issues.

      Ability to work independently, have good judgment, and decision making ability.

      Work collaboratively with patient care service staff and physicians to lead transformational change.

      Ability to bring together diverse entities and personalities for the purpose of creating a highly effective and productive team. Knowledge of statistics, data collection and survey design.

      Skill in establishing a balanced perspective on mission effectiveness and business results is critical.

      Knowledge of State, Federal, and The Joint Commission regulations.

RESPONSIBILITES:

      Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.  Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices.

      Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, standards and objectives. 

      Directs and supervises staff as well as workflow. 

      Position has budgetary or fiscal accountability.

      Responsible for planning and implementing the performance improvement program to meet the needs of the hospital. 

      Provides education to medical staff, hospital staff and Governing Body around quality initiatives. 

      Facilitates performance improvement activities and CQI activities throughout the hospital. 

      Acts as resource person to administrative team, department managers and medical staff. 

      Assists department managers with preparation for medical staff committees. 

      Oversight responsibility for all regulator body surveys, i.e., TJC, State Licensing Review, HCFA (CMS) Validation surveys. 

      Maintains oversight responsibility for all performance improvement activities conducted throughout the institution. 

      Responsible for the implementation, coordination and direction of quality activities 

      Will maintain oversight responsibility for medical necessity reviews, appropriateness of levels of care by applying nationally recognized criteria. Position is responsible for approving timekeeping, employee evaluation, meeting applicable regulatory standards, approving supply orders and department strategic planning.

      Ability to develop and analyze quality/performance data to identify trends, develop action plans, and implement program modification for change. 

      Ability to manage day to day operations of quality

      Must have a good understanding of regulatory standards/requirements.

      Able to manage the department budget and develop cost containment strategies to operate the department.

      Coordinate the quality improvement program of DHR and patient safety programs. 

      Other duties as assigned.
