POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsibilities include developing, coordinating and supervising day to day clinical operations to assure a smooth, efficient functioning department and the delivery of quality health care services in the pre, intra, and post Cath Lab arena.  These responsibilities include staff scheduling, personnel management (interviewing, hiring, orientation, performance evaluations, counseling/disciplinary actions, etc.) and departmental payroll.  Acts as a clinical resource for the department and assures ongoing education of staff.  Coordinates and participates in quality improvement activities. 

POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School/GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of, professional nursing or Radiology technology program required.
  • Licensure in the State of Texas as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) or with the Texas Department of Health Medical Radiology technology required.
  • Bachelors Degree in a healthcare related field preferred
  • CPR Certificate required
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish.

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE­:

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as first-line manager coupled with three (3) years clinical cath lab experience required.
  • At least two (2) years supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of Texas and Federal regulatory agency standards related to health care organizations.
  • Able to apply principles of managerial and leadership theory. Cognitive and technical knowledge and the ability to progressively manage care delivery across the continuum of care. 
  • The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing required; as is the ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken and written word.

 

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others. Considers mission, vision and values in developing services, standards and practices
  • Responsible for the development of all Cath Lab personnel.
  • Creates and implements necessary training programs for all staff in order to increase the operations of the department.
  • Maintains records of training performed by all staff (competency grids) and ensures compliance with all hospital educational requirements.
  • Responsible for meeting yearly budgets. Assist Director in evaluating and projecting payroll, equipment, and supply costs for all areas supervised.
  • Interact with patients, physicians, physician's offices, and other system or facility departments over the phone or in person in an effective and professional manner.
  • Responsible for organizing, directing, teaching and evaluating total nursing care within area of responsibility, including ensuring adequate staffing.
