Administers various employee benefit programs, such as group health insurance (life, medical and dental) and supplemental insurance programs. Surveys industry and/or community to determine the Hospital's competitive position in employee benefits. Works with the Supervisor to develop, recommend, and install approved, new, or modified benefit plans and employee policies. Develops cost control procedures to assure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to organization and employee.
College degree in business, human resources or related field, is strongly preferred.
Four (4) years experience in the area of benefits administration.
Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues.
Good written and verbal communication skills required.
Ability to read, write and speak English
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
Prefer hospital experience
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements both adopted and pending affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, SECTION 125, Medicare, COBRA, and Social Security and DOL requirements.
Experience in an Acute Care setting within Employee Benefits, is preferred.
Must have effective communication skills, oral and written.
Experience in MS Word, Excel, ADP Payroll and other applicable database programs will be helpful.
Critical thinking skills is a must, as is the ability to multi-task.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
High degree of competency/experience in general.

Evaluates, recommends and implements approved, new, or modified benefit plans.
Coordinates human resources procedures to initiate benefits enrollment such as medical, dental, life insurance and supplemental insurance plans.
Provides benefit orientations, enrollments, claims processing and self-billings of insuranc
Process and maintain all benefit status reports and benefit pay deductions, both on paper and computer, ensuring accurate changes are processed through payroll.
Assists employees in filing health, dental, life, and other related benefit claims.
Coordinates the FMLA and Leave without Pay policies by assisting employees with processing paperwork and planning for benefit continuation while on leave.
Verifies calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintains data relative to premiums, claims, and costs.
Resolves all administrative problems and discrepancies with carrier representatives.
Coordinates, arranges and conducts employee annual open enrollments, orientation and informational presentations (i.e. annual benefits fairs).
Handles benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
Coordinates the maintenance of employee records as it relates to enrollment, application, and claims records for all benefit plans.
Assist employees regarding Employee Benefit questions according to policy and procedures.
Assist department with other duties and issues, as necessary.

Payroll Supervisor, Director of Accounting
Provide excellent customer service to all DHR customers. All employees are required to attend the DHR C.A.R.E.S program which outlines the Customer Service Principals including: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence through Knowledge and Safety & Social Conscience.
Employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirement relative to his or her age.

B.Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C.Occupational Exposure:This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
