Peer Support Specialist

Peer Recovery Specialists are responsible for:
• Providing support to the criminal justice involved client both while in-custody and post release
• Serving as a role model by exhibiting long-term stable personal recovery and use of appropriate coping skills
• Conducting group sessions and assisting clients with goals for recovery
• Consulting with other treatment team members
• Providing resources to assist with recovery and transition
• Traveling throughout State to provide peer support services to clients in SUD treatment
• Other duties as assigned
• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent required • Former participant in a substance abuse treatment program and demonstrated long-term stable recovery • Therapeutic Community experience desired • Certified Missouri Recovery Support Specialist-Peer (MRSS-P ) as required by the Missouri Credentialing Board (MCB) --- Can be obtained within the first six months of employment. • Current driver’s license and good driving record • Must be able to obtain Missouri Department of Corrections clearance |
