About the Role

The Marketing Communications Specialist is a talented, creative, and engaging writer and communications professional who will support both internal and external communications efforts. This role is responsible for developing compelling content that aligns with Dean Dorton’s strategic messaging and brand identity.

 

The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator who can produce a wide range of content—from marketing collateral and press releases to thought leadership articles and optimized digital content. This position requires creative thinking, strategic communications skills, and strong attention to detail, with a focus on driving brand consistency and enhancing Dean Dorton’s presence across key industries and markets.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Content & Strategy

  • Write, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, website copy, brochures, press releases, case studies, and more.
  • Develop and execute communications strategies that support business goals, market growth, lead generation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to produce thought leadership pieces that position Dean Dorton as an industry leader.
  • Develop and optimize digital content for blog articles, websites, and email campaigns.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and competitor activities to identify content opportunities.

Collaboration & Internal Communications

  • Partner with leadership and team members to produce internal communications that inform, motivate, and inspire employees.
  • Coordinate with the Marketing team to manage content and copy development projects from inception to completion.
  • Ensure all content maintains consistency with Dean Dorton’s brand tone, style, and messaging.
  • Show initiative, adaptability, and a proactive approach to learning (“serial student” mindset).

 

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a content creation or communications role.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of content strategy, SEO best practices, and digital marketing.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and digital analytics tools a plus.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

  • Social media platforms and digital scheduling tools
  • Analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics)
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

 

Travel

This position requires occasional travel to Dean Dorton offices and industry events.
