Sales & Use Tax Reporting Supervisor

Location: On-site – All Locations
Position Type: Full-time, Exempt

We are seeking a Sales & Use Tax Reporting Supervisor to join our team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

In this role, you'll implement an integrated approach to process improvement, enabling the tax department to maximize its strategic impact. We seek professionals with a strong business and technology orientation who can effectively manage and ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations. Some responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a thorough understanding of Sales & Use tax laws, particularly as they relate to technology consulting, software sales & subscriptions, and software-as-a-service (SaaS).
  • Monitor the sales & use tax landscape for trends, including states' initiatives to tax services.
  • Complete new sales tax registrations as needed to support the firm’s expansion and compliance efforts.
  • Reconcile Avalara sales tax calculations with Intacct monthly.
  • Release committed transactions to Avalara based on their established timelines.
  • Develop procedures to maintain current documents supporting the classification of tax-exempt clients.
  • Collaborate with Dean Dorton tax personnel to establish sales tax reporting and processing guidelines in Canada.
  • Review and maintain tax setup in ConnectWise for all items in the product catalog.
  • Review and maintain the firm’s registrations with state accountancy boards, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.
  • Oversee the review and processing of firm direct bills for AICPA and state CPA societies (KY, OH, IN, NC).
  • Maintain and renew filings with various Secretary of State offices.
  • Manage the complete registration process when the firm begins business in a new state.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience required, including 2 years of corporate sales and use tax experience preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of Avalara sales tax software is preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel.
