Position Summary:
Responsible for the supervision of the programming offered through the YMCA’s Healthy Living initiatives.  Provides guidance and support to department staff to ensure the program achieves quality performance outcomes.

Essential Functions:
  • Directs, supervises, and monitors YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program operations and other Y community activities to meet YMCA objectives and adhere to all local, state, federal, and YMCA regulations.
  • Ensures the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program achieves quality outcomes based on the Center for Disease and Control and Prevention Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program. 
  • Develops, monitors, and effectively forecasts program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Establishes relationships with public health, physician and payer communities and other referral networks to enhance awareness of and referrals to Y programming.
  • Serves as a liaison, ambassador and advocate within the public health, physician, and payer communities.
  • Assists in establishing, scheduling, marketing, and administering the YMCA of Greater Dayton’s biometric screening program for corporations, program participants, and the community. 
  • Establishes relationships with employers and corporates for worksite wellness programs.
  • Supervises on-site corporate wellness coaches.
  • Responds to inquiries from the YMCA branches, public, members of public health, physician, and payer communities regarding community Y programming.
  • Assists senior YMCA leaders in leveraging relationships with the public health, physician, and payer communities for the benefit of the program.
  • Engages senior YMCA leaders to be ambassadors and advocates for the program in the public health, physician, and payer communities.
  • Engage marketing staff to ensure adequate publicity and marketing of the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program and other Y community health living programming.  Acts as a spokesperson about Y community healthy living programming for the press and media. 
  • Represents the YMCA and the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program and other community healthy living programs at internal and external wellness fairs, screening events, lunch and learns, etc.  The director is responsible for assigning appropriate staff to participate in activities in their absence.
  • Utilizes the YUSA guidelines, hires, supervises, and coordinates the training for the Lifestyle Coaches, and supports coaches in the program.
  • Schedules, evaluates, supervises all program staff, and provides class coverage as needed.
  • Assists coaches with the launching of each group, evaluation of the group, and facilitation regarding special participant situations that may arise.
  • Monitors the quality of support that coaches provide to program participants and assists with retention and commitment of program participants.
  • Provides programming to those in shared service area agreements.
  • Primary contact for program enrollment: recruits, screens, and registers eligible participants into the program.
  • Organizes master schedule of program classes offered throughout the Miami Valley region. Coordinates with facility management to schedule appropriate meeting areas.
  • Audits and analyzes program data to ensure the program meets quality performance standards.
  • Ensures established program curriculum is followed.
  • Participates on regularly scheduled conference calls and meetings with YUSA and other YMCA’s participating in the program.
  • Coordinate with branches in the appropriate service areas to assist with general program and membership growth.
  • Serves as the Compliance Officer by monitoring HIPAA compliance for the Association.
  • Ensures all staff adhere to YMCA’s HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Serves on appropriate community boards and coalitions (i.e. Montgomery County Diabetes Coalition)
  • Engages volunteers to establish the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program Community Advisory Board (CAB). Holds meetings in accordance with the YUSA recommendations.
  • Actively participates in and supports the goals of the Annual campaign through building relationships, engaging volunteers and carrying out other assigned fundraising duties. 
  • Participates and contributes towards the goals of program task teams, and other assigned committees of the Association.
  • Provides leadership and structure to the YMCA employee wellness committee.
  • Conducts, maintains, and prepares accurate records and reports including: program registration forms, program stats and attendance rosters, and equipment. 
  • Communicates to VP of Operations any suggestions concerns or incidents that may need follow-up.
Qualifications:
  • A 4-year college degree in Wellness, Fitness, Exercise Science, Health/Physical Education, or related field required. 
  • 5 – 7 years in a YMCA or similar organization with a strong commitment to YMCA philosophy and values. 
  • Two years’ experience in direct supervision required demonstrating the ability to recruit, train, motivate and supervise staff required. 
  • Two years’ experience in program management required. 
  • Two years’ experience in delivering training to adults is required. 
  • Proven track record in budget development and monitoring to produce results. 
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable driver’s record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.
  • Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
