Develops, organizes, and implements high quality YMCA Health & Wellness and Sports programs. Position is directly responsible for both Sports and Wellness Departments.

Essential Functions:
- Responsible for directing all sports programming at the Versailles branch (organized sports leagues, classes, camps, clinics). Reviews and evaluates the program enrollment, and services provided by the sports department.
- Proficient use of web-based operating systems to manage programs including program entry, scheduling, and communication.
- Works with YMCA of Greater Dayton Sports Task Team to ensure consistency with YMCA standards and best practices.
- Responsible for the recruitment, vetting and training of volunteer coaches for all sports.
- Directs sports referees and sports staff at the Versailles location for all sports leagues and programs.
- Must be present to ensure quality practices and games throughout the week, including game day Saturdays throughout the year.
- Directs fitness floor assistants, group exercise staff, and volunteers of the department in their respective responsibilities.
- Recruits, trains, and recognizes wellness and group exercise staff.
- Works with YMCA of Greater Dayton Health & Wellness and Seniors Task Team to ensure consistency with YMCA standards and best practices.
- Focused approach to small group training and personal training implementation plan resulting in higher participation rate in both program areas.
- Reviews and evaluates the program enrollment, and services provided by the wellness department and communicates findings to their supervisor.
- Identifies new and innovative programs in health and wellness, while targeting youth, adults, seniors, and families with an emphasis on increased membership retention.
- Orients new wellness staff and provides guidance and clarification of work duties and assignments.
- Supervises the fitness center areas by being attentive to all participants to protect their safety. Instructs members and participants on safe exercise techniques including but not limited to warm-up and stretching progression, aerobic conditioning, strength training, proper use of center equipment and workout routine.
- Maintains all equipment on fitness floor and group exercise space ensuring safety and proper upkeep.
- Provides fitness orientations for members looking for guidance and direction to meet their fitness goals.
- Instructs group exercise classes based on personal experience and need of the YMCA.
- Facilitates annual and quarterly wellness programming including member challenges, Move2Lose, and other Fee-based Fitness programming.
- Ensure cleanliness of fitness center through daily cleaning checklist and equipment maintenance plan.
- Provides leadership and support to Annual Campaign and volunteer committees as needed.
- Develops and manages annual budget ensuring financial success of department and thus the YMCA.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A 2-year college degree or applicable experience is required; Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent strongly preferred.
- One year minimum of supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Two years’ experience in Sports and Health & Wellness programming and systems.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license, insurable drivers record according to the YMCA’s insurance carriers, and have reliable transportation to travel for business meetings, training events, YMCA site visits, vendors, and suppliers, etc.
- Computer skills needed, particularly with Microsoft Office and email applications, along with ability to learn the internal YMCA software.
