$10.70-12.84/Hour

*60-minute physical activity session on Fridays from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM*

Position Summary:
Responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all physical education activities associated with the Homeschool Program.

Essential Functions:
  • Plans, develops and implements lesson plans that fit the designated topic for the assigned age group in that specific week.  All lesson plans should be designed to keep the interest of the participants and should be developmentally appropriate for the age group the instructor is working with.
  • Works cooperatively with Program Director, to ensure quality of programming and correct marketing of such program
  • Documents attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor disciplines and incidents for each child in the assigned age group.
  • Is responsible for all aspects of the appearance and management of their designated program area/outside areas. Maintains the quality of supplies, materials, and equipment in the program in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Effectively communicates verbal (and written if necessary) reports to the program director, participants, and parents.
  • Possesses working knowledge of child abuse and neglect laws and follows proper reporting procedures.
  • Handles discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated discipline policy. Documents and reports to the supervisor any special needs or problems of an individual child, staff or parent.
  • Inspects equipment safety hazards, damage or wear.
  • Promotes other YMCA programs.
  • Recruits new participants.
  • Creates an atmosphere that is based on fair play and incorporates it in a manner that is both demonstrative and professional.
  • Communicates to direct supervisor any concerns, needed repairs, or incidents that may need follow-up. Is courteous and gives sincere attention to members by answering questions. 
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required.     
  • Teaching experience preferred but not required. 
  • Must be knowledgeable in the growth and development stages of children with the ability to follow lesson plans.   
  • Must have ability to lead and motivate others.
