Description

JOB SUMMARY
This is a temporary, non-benefitted, full-time position on our Equipment Maintenance team. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on motorized equipment, gas-powered vehicles, diesel engines, and electric motors. This position will also assist in other facilities maintenance functions as well.
 
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform preventive/periodic maintenance and inspections
Make repairs to fuel, ignition, electrical, braking, and any/all systems associated with heavy equipment, the Zoo’s automotive/fleet vehicles, and power tools
Repair and maintain hydraulic equipment, systems, and gates
Conducts weekly inventory and inspections as assigned. 
Maintains tools, shop, and equipment to ensure safe working conditions
Communicate with and assist Zoo staff and visitors as needed. 
Perform other duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have at least two years of hands-on experience within a mechanical field such as automotive, diesel, and heavy equipment
Must have a high school diploma or GED. 
Must be flexible, self-motivated and a team player.
Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
Must be able to establish and maintain an effective rapport with all levels of management, employees, and zoo guests.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Must be able to walk, stand, sit, kneel, stoop, crawl, twist, reach above head, pull bend, climb stairs and ladders and carry up to 75lbs. 
Must be able to work holidays and weekends, along with nights and evenings as needed.
Must be able to actively work in inclement weather.
Must have a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
