Position Overview
Cyber B.A.T. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership for the architecture, engineering, integration, and lifecycle management of complex hardware and software systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) missions. This position leads systems engineering activities from concept development through deployment and sustainment, ensuring mission requirements are translated into scalable, secure, and interoperable technical solutions.


What You'll Do

  • Lead systems engineering efforts throughout the system development lifecycle, from requirements analysis through deployment, operations, and sustainment
  • Develop, analyze, and manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure solutions align with mission objectives and enterprise architectures
  • Design and develop system architectures using Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), and other applicable architectural frameworks
  • Develop system engineering documentation, including:
    • System Engineering Plans (SEPs)
    • Initial Capability Documents (ICDs)
    • Requirements Specifications
    • Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
    • Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)
  • Translate stakeholder needs into functional, technical, hardware, software, facility, and personnel requirements
  • Develop and maintain system baselines while managing configuration changes throughout the system lifecycle
  • Lead interface definition, interface control, and integration activities across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Participate in and provide technical leadership for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews
  • Develop alternative system architectures, design concepts, and engineering solutions that balance lifecycle cost, performance, risk, scalability, and maintainability
  • Perform functional decomposition, requirements allocation, and end-to-end systems engineering analyses
  • Develop verification and validation strategies, test plans, evaluation criteria, and traceability matrices to ensure compliance with system requirements
  • Conduct end-to-end system integration planning and coordinate integration activities across hardware, software, and network engineering teams
  • Perform engineering trade studies, Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), modeling, simulation, and prototyping activities to support technical decision-making
  • Conduct quantitative analyses of system performance, including reliability, maintainability, survivability, vulnerability, producibility, and lifecycle sustainability
  • Develop operational concepts, mission threads, and timeline analyses to evaluate system interactions and mission effectiveness
  • Manage technical risks by identifying, assessing, tracking, and mitigating program risks throughout the system lifecycle
  • Utilize Earned Value Management (EVM) data and other program metrics to monitor technical performance and project execution
  • Support Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation and acquisition planning activities
  • Support DoD Certification and Accreditation (C&A) processes and system security engineering efforts
  • Develop Information Assurance (IA) requirements addressing confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, authorization, accountability, cryptography, key management, and access control
  • Ensure engineering products comply with applicable Government, industry, and international standards
  • Recommend emerging technologies, engineering methodologies, and integration strategies to improve system performance, interoperability, and lifecycle management
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to multidisciplinary engineering teams while ensuring engineering deliverables meet customer requirements, technical standards, and program objectives

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of 20 years of systems engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope, complexity, and mission requirements
  • Five (5) additional years of directly related Systems Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience planning, leading, and executing large-scale Systems Engineering efforts
  • Extensive experience managing system requirements, requirements decomposition, functional allocation, and requirements traceability
  • Experience developing system architectures using DoDAF, SOA, or comparable enterprise architecture frameworks
  • Experience producing and reviewing System Engineering Plans (SEPs), Requirements Specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), and other engineering documentation
  • Experience supporting Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), design reviews, and technical reviews
  • Experience developing and managing interface definitions and complex system integrations across hardware and software environments
  • Experience conducting verification and validation planning, system testing, and requirements compliance assessments
  • Experience performing engineering trade studies, Analysis of Alternatives (AoA), modeling, simulation, and systems analysis
  • Experience supporting Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) documentation and DoD acquisition processes
  • Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF), Certification and Accreditation (C&A), and Information Assurance (IA) activities
  • Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle methodologies, configuration management, and technical baseline management
  • Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to monitor technical performance and program execution
  • Strong understanding of system reliability, maintainability, survivability, security, scalability, and lifecycle engineering principles
  • Excellent leadership, technical communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams
