Position Overview
Cyber B.A.T. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, enhance, and maintain complex software systems supporting mission-critical applications. This role works across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture input, development, testing, integration, and production support. The engineer will support systems involving large-scale data processing, analytics, real-time processing, and enterprise business applications, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainability.
What You'll Do
- Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain complex and diverse software systems, including data-intensive, real-time, and analytics-driven applications
- Debug existing software, identify root causes, and implement corrective fixes
- Design and implement new software features or modify existing systems to meet evolving requirements
- Integrate software components into new or existing system architectures and operational environments
- Develop and execute database queries and support data repository design and optimization
- Write, review, and maintain technical documentation, including system and software design artifacts
- Serve as a technical lead for development efforts aligned to project scope and software development methodology
- Design and implement complex database interfaces and data query solutions
- Develop and optimize algorithms to meet system performance, scalability, and functional requirements
- Assist with test planning, test case development, and execution of software validation activities
- Analyze system performance, workflows, data usage, and operational issues to identify improvement opportunities
- Modify existing software to improve performance, correct defects, or support new hardware and environments
- Apply scientific and mathematical modeling techniques to design and improve software systems
- Develop high-complexity algorithms constrained by performance, timing, and system resource requirements
- Ensure quality control across software deliverables and enforce engineering best practices
- Recommend improvements to software development processes, documentation standards, and engineering practices
- Collaborate with systems engineers and hardware engineers to define requirements, interfaces, and system constraints
- Coordinate software deployment and system installation activities across operational environments
- Recommend and evaluate new technologies, tools, and development processes for complex software projects
- Serve as technical lead across multiple development teams, guiding design and implementation decisions
- Select and apply appropriate software development methodologies in coordination with stakeholders
- Oversee team execution, delegate development and testing responsibilities, and monitor performance and delivery quality
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of 20 years of experience as a Software Engineer on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
- Four (4) additional years of directly related software engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment)
- Experience developing complex software systems such as: Data-intensive analytics systems, Real-time processing systems, Large-scale data management systems, and Enterprise or mission-critical applications
- Strong experience in software design, algorithm development, and performance optimization
- Experience integrating software into complex system environments and architectures
- Experience with database design, data modeling, and query optimization
- Experience leading software development teams and coordinating technical execution
- Strong understanding of software engineering methodologies and best practices
- Experience collaborating with systems engineers and hardware engineers on system design and requirements
- Experience with software testing, validation, and quality assurance processes
- Ability to evaluate trade-offs across software reuse, COTS/GOTS integration, and custom development
- Strong technical leadership, communication, and mentoring capabilities
