Position Description
The Regional Civil Engineering lead we are seeking will be based in Seattle, WA. The ideal candidate will be a Civil Engineer ready to embrace an exciting new challenge. They will be a self-starter, brimming with confidence in their ability to build and lead a dynamic local civil engineering team as a seller-doer. The candidate will be highly skilled in civil engineering, have an established network within the region, and be adept at business development. Our goal is to grow our civil engineering work in the the greater seattle area, and this individual will be a key player in this growth and working with the firm’s current engineering leadership.
Position Salary Range
The expected salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 annually*.
Primary Qualifications**
- ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited degree in Civil Engineering.
- 10+ years of job-related experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state in which Cushing Terrell is hiring
- Current NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) license
- Strong ability and enthusiasm to build and lead a regional civil engineering team and collaborate closely with other design disciplines
- Highly skilled at project and program management and delivery
- Proven experience in land development, transportation, and municipal civil engineering
- Established business development network and skillset at the local and regional levels
- Expert knowledge and skills of AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficient with WaterCAD or equivalent modeling software, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, ArchGIS, Bluebeam, and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams
- Proficient technical writer

Position Responsibilities***
- Advance the firm’s mission, vision, and values.
- Foster a creative and collaborative multidisciplinary culture.
- Build a local civil engineering team and be responsible for providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Prepare fee proposals, engineering reports, cost estimates, field reports, and schedules.
- Negotiate, prepare, and execute contracts.
- Provide oversight and quality control for the preparation of project calculations, plans, reports, and specifications.
- Provide expert knowledge of codes and jurisdictional processes.
- Prepare preliminary budgets and/or cost estimates for projects.
- Schedule projects and staff resources.
- Be a resource/advisor for continuing education topics/needs.
- Identify and develop market and new business opportunities.
- Lead project interviews for specific projects.
- Develop and retain client relationships as well as internal team and leadership relationships

*Actual pay will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, licensure status, location, level of proficiency, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law). This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus.
