As a Permit Manager, you will oversee the permitting team. You will utilize project management skills and demonstrate strong decision-making abilities. In this position, you will collaborate with various project team members and clients to establish an effective permitting process and system for managing permits. This position requires overseeing timelines, developing schedules, and monitoring progress to ensure that objectives related to the permitting process are achieved.
Qualifications* you will bring to the table:
  • An Associate’s degree or higher in related fields
  • 5+ years of experience in the Architecture Engineering industry, or related field
  • Experience with permit management 
  • Excellent communications and organization Skills
  • Ability to manage both a team and the permitting process
  • The ability to monitor and communicate risks related to the start of construction due to delays in obtaining permits
  • Ability to make strong positive connections at authorities having jurisdiction
  • An understanding of permitting codes and process with multiple authorities
  • An Understanding of various permit requirements
  • Values permits, understand their importance, knows the right questions to ask, and can effectively remove roadblocks

As a Team Member at Cushing Terrell, you will*…
  • Create, oversee and manage a permitting process that tracks hundreds of permits in progress across all 50 states from beginning to end
  • Create permit timelines that enable effective planning while ensuring that permits do not expire
  • Expand our permitting services to market to other architectural and engineering firms, as well as general contractors
  • Review application and construction documents for completeness and compliance with requirements
  • Route plans for appropriate staff for processing
  • Coordinate the plan checking process, monitoring, and ensure that all necessary documentation and reviews are completed
  • Prepare and issue permits in compliance with current Building Department standards, development conditions, improvement standards, construction specifications, and city ordinances
  • Establish and maintain good working relations with the public, development community, city staff, and others contacted during the course of work, serving as a liaison to multiple agencies
  • Collaborate directly with the supervisors to initially review the construction documents in order to accurately prepare permit applications to be submitted to the municipality
  • Maintain reports to include: permit tracking log, sold not started, inventory management, and other various permitting spreadsheets
 
*The majority of the time, a person in this role will be sitting in an office with limited physical requirements. This may require individuals to bend, stretch, twist, and reach.
Your pay
The salary for this position is based on the location/s posted. If you are a candidate living outside of (this region/these regions), we still encourage you to apply as salary ranges may differ across states/cities/job markets.
  • Expected Range*: $60,000 to $80,000
  • The position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus
*The actual salary offered for the role will be determined based on various factors including but not limited to; years of experience, certifications, location, level of job-related knowledge, and other job-related factors (as permitted by law).
