Our Interview Philosophy:

We are a mission-driven, value-centric company, striving to make classrooms better places for teachers and students. Our rigorous interview process is designed to not only assess candidates for their experience and fit with organizational needs, but also their philosophical alignment with our purpose. We believe our team is best able to serve educators when we are all working with a shared passion for making an impact on education that lasts a lifetime!

Our Interview Process:

We work hard to design a customized interview process for each role. Although the process does vary from role to role, there are a few steps candidates can expect:

  • An interview with your future manager
  • Interviews with colleagues you may interact with day-to-day (both within your team and on other teams)
  • If interviewing for a people manager role, you will meet with another leader above your manager like a director or vice president of the department
  • For some roles, we find it helpful to give candidates a task that will replicate the work you’ll complete in your day-to-day. Each task is slightly different and will include detailed directions and timeline
  • Additionally, for roles that are Director-level or above, candidates meet with our AVP of Talent & Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Programs and in most cases, our Chief Executive Officer

This list is not comprehensive but should give candidates an idea of what they might expect.

Our Onboarding Process:

We want to ensure all new team members get off to the best possible start!

Onboarding begins the moment an offer letter is signed. While the team prepares for your arrival, you will receive an email welcoming you to CA and giving you access to our onboarding portal.

On your first day, you will receive our Orientation Playbook with resources to help you get rolling and join other new hires for an orientation where you will gain access to all essential applications and be introduced to CA's culture. You will also spend time with your manager and have lunch with your new hire buddy, who will be with you over your first few weeks.

Over the next 30 days, you will go on to complete tasks and training geared towards helping you get an understanding of CA, our products, values, and your department, ensuring that you are comfortable in your role and set up to succeed.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEIB) at Curriculum Associates

To date, we have developed three company-wide commitments to anchor our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging efforts and create a shared language for accountability. This is a company-wide effort, aimed at improving all aspects of the CA employee experience.

Our three commitments include:

  1. Implement equitable hiring practices to increase the diversity of the CA workforce to one day reflect the demographics of public schools.
  2. Build a culture of inclusivity so that all CA staff can thrive.
  3. Deliver products and services that drive grade-level access and outcomes, equitably for all students.

Equitable Hiring

Our Talent team has worked to critically review all parts of our hiring process to work to remove the effects of bias. We have reviewed and revised how we write our job description, review resumes, interview and evaluate candidates, and much more to ensure an equitable and attainable for all candidates who chose to apply.

A Culture of Inclusivity

We are committed to creating a culture of belonging for our teams. To accomplish this goal, we have created five Employee Resource Groups, DEIB book clubs, a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) mentorship program, and several programs to create spaces where employees’ culture, experiences, and voices are centered & valued.

As the company grows, we continue to review and improve these programs based on employee feedback.

Supporting Educators and Learners through Inclusive Content

Educators across the country are charged with helping all students reach grade-level milestones—regardless of where they live, the languages they speak, their race or ethnicities, or available resources.

To help educators succeed, Curriculum Associates produces high-quality, inclusive content that encourages learners to:

  1. See themselves fully represented
  2. Learn about others who are also fully represented
  3. Reflect on how their perspectives have evolved based on their new knowledge

This approach to learning both invites and requires more diverse voices to make content richer and more relevant to learners from different cultures, languages, and life experiences.

Developing Inclusive Content

Students who are more engaged with their learning show significantly greater learning gains than their peers, and engaged learners are more likely to graduate and be prepared for college and career success.

One effective way to engage all learners is to ensure they see themselves in their learning. To this aim, our content development is guided by these principles:

  • Students deserve learning experiences that reflect and validate their unique cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
  • When learners see themselves accurately reflected, they feel safe, seen, and valued at school.
  • To help educators accelerate learning for all students, they need the best possible materials to spark deep engagement.
