Instructional Designer


The Instructional Designer plays
 an integral role in the conceptualization and execution of exceptional online professional development. The Instructional Designer works closely with content experts to design and build learning experiences that help educators succeed with CA products.

 

This is a hands-on role on an emerging team. You’ll have a chance to create the blueprint for great digital PD materials, leveraging your instructional design expertise to conceive impactful learning designs, collaborate with subject matter experts to write effective scripts and storyboards, and conduct program builds with the help of development teams.

The impact you’ll have:

 

Capture requirements and create learning objectives

  • Work with PD specialists, customers, and subject matter experts to identify our target audience’s training needs
  • Use available data and market feedback to deeply understand how educators respond to our PD offerings
  • Understand Curriculum Associates’ complementary PD delivery formats and content, including instructor support resources and on-site PD sessions
  • Stay abreast of current trends in eLearning development and delivery

 

Develop instructional design for digital PD courses

  • Create engaging activities and compelling course content that fulfills learning objectives
  • Conceptualize layouts, interactions, templates, and functionality of specific activities 
  • Create course storyboards and write scripts for on-screen text and audio narration
  • Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure effectiveness
  • Analyze and apply trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design 
  • Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process

 

Create eLearning Content

  • Collaborate with internal partners and external vendors to build eLearning content through authoring tools such as Articulate Studio
  • Manage video post-production and edits
  • Work with SMEs to ensure that PD content is accurate and error-free
  • Maintain project documentation and course assets

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years’ experience in an instructional design role
  • Knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts
  • Proven project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and evidence of effective relationship management

We’d also love to see: 

  • Experience building content with Articulate Studio 
  • Experience producing digital media (video, animations)
  • Strength in self-driven performance and initiatives
  • Experience delivering educational content through learning management systems
  • MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar relevant field
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience building professional development courses
